      4 Strings

      By SarahPVC, in DJ Profiles,

Name: Carlo Resoort & Jan de Vos
      Birthyear: Carlo 1973  Jan 1974
      Currently live in: Amsterdam, Netherlands
DJ Style: Energy and Uplifting Trance
Producing style: Vocal and Energy Trance
Behind the name 4 Strings hides 2 musicians, Carlo Resoort and Jan de Vos. The two have known each other since 1986. In 1990 they became interested in dance music and from that moment on, they started producing their own music. All their spare time was spent in the studio. Throughout the next couple of years not only did their skills expand but also the amount of equipment in their studio. With the new tools and experience that they had, they could finally discover in which direction they wanted to go with their musical careers: Carlo decided to stay in the studio while Jan found his passion in mixing and started his DJ-ing career.
Jan met up with Piet Bervoets (Carlos, ROOS and Rank 1). Piet taught him the basics of mixing. After a couple of months, Jan joined a drive-in-show, where he played all kinds of music from R&B, Top 40 to Happy Hardcore. His skills were improving rapidly, and it was during this time period he noticed that his main interest was in dance music. After winning a first place prize in a DJ contest, he was offered his very own residency.
Carlo Resoort started with dance music in 1994, and soon after that he had his first release.  After a couple of releases he had his first major breakthrough: "Carlos - the silmarilla", produced together with Piet Bervoets of Rank 1. Two years later he had another hit with "Turn it around". Around this same time, a new record company was born, "Spinnin Records". Shortly thereafter Carlo signed his first record deal and 4 Strings was born.
"Daytime" was the first track of 4 Strings, supported by Paul van Dyk, Judge Jules and Tisto. The follow up was "Into the night", which got even more support. After a vocal edit called "Take me away" it became a huge hit around the globe, even now the track can be heard worldwide.
"Diving" and "Let it rain" were the follow ups, and soon the first album was released. After remixing Summer Sun they started to work on their second album Turn it around. The album was named after the new single which is a remake from Carlos former project Alena. Carlo also started another project under his own name, with productions like Remover, O class, "Musica, Ayers Rock and Rise.
In 2005, 4 Strings released another hit Sunrise, this track was the theme of the number one dance music festival in Poland also called Sunrise.
DJ 4 Strings is not just your average DJ, he is an entertainer. He is part of the new generation of DJs today. Crowds are amazed by his refreshing and unique style of playing music. DJ 4 Strings is always prepared with unpredictable and quality tracks that both excite existing fans and bring new people to the scene. There is so much good music out there and 4 Strings do not want to limit themselves to one style. 4 Strings is also in the top 10 for Holland on The DJ List.
4 Strings touring diary is incredibly hectic for 2006, with regular stops at major venues in the world. Such as touring the USA, Australia, Mexico, Poland, Asia and Holland just to name a few. 2006 is sure to be a massive year with the release of their brand new track Hurricane and also playing at the leading trance party of Holland Trance Energy in February. Summer 2006 will also see the first ever unique 4 Strings Live Tour worldwide. Following the release of their new album this year.
Stay tuned and be amazed by this fast growing act in 2006!

      Ale Reeves

      By SarahPVC, in DJ Profiles,

Real Name: Mara Alejandra Reeves D.
      Year of Birth: 1977
Currently lives in: Santiago de Chile
      First gig/started playing in: Ak-Bar 2003
      DJ Style: Electro, Electro-Techno, Tech-House
Involved in the electronic scene for more than six years, just in 2003 Ale Reeves starts her career as DJane, dedicating herself to transform all the tracks she has played in. She has shared her set with several renowned DJs in Chile, Argentina and Mexico. Her set is mainly based on electro, electro wave and techno, leading her public through a journey that awakens memories, including a remix of great hits from the 80s and 90sonly to ignite later the track with the best techno.
Unforgettable performances such as Open Rave Iquique, Divas Night (Blondie), Club Open and Go West (the two later in Mendoza, Argentina), LOVEPARADE South America 2005 and recently in Mexico (Mexico City and Queretaro) have confirmed that she has come to impose her music and energy.
Ale was educated by friends and a DJ School, under the coaching of DJ Wask and DJ Tressor and she has demonstrated that in her short experience she has been able to position herself with talent in front of her audience and inside the local electronic scene, just like she did when she was crowned Number 1 DJ in the Contest organized by the Municipality of Providencia (Juventud2mil) and also when she was one of the official faces for Loveparade South America 2005.
Achievements like these, along with her beauty, make the track become and idilic scenario of sounds, images and performance. Among her current projects is the production of her own themes, under the wing of the renowned DJ, Tony Mass, and also continuing to pursue the conquer of the local and, of course, internacional scenes. Along with Lexx (Colombia) and Daniela Haverbeck, they form the first female DJs collective in Chile: Believe It!

Andy has been DJ'ing for almost five years although only one and a half of these have been professional. He is capable of rocking any dance-floor, large or small, regardless of what style of music they wish to hear. Being versatile in the world of Hard-dance DJing is something of a lost art, with many DJs staying to one style, heads down, banging it out. Although he is capable of this, he pride his DJing on being able to take many different twists and turns within his set, building it up, bringing it down, throwing in a few surprises, always keeping the dance-floor entertained and most importantly, dancing.
      About
The music he plays now is best described as Hardhouse/Hardtrance although he is able to play a vast selection of styles including Hip-Hop, Drum n Bass, Happy Hardcore and Progressive Trance.

DJ Billy Gonzalez is known for his tight technical ability as well as breadth and variety of tune selection. Being an open-minded and true lover of the various genres of dance music, he has mastered the art of Balearic DJing, that is to say he will play whatever best suits the mood or will best take the party in the direction he wants it to go. Whether warming the crowd up early on or rocking the place late into the night he has something special to offer and always responds to the club's atmosphere and the crowd itself..
Having started out as a trance DJ under the guise of MrE, he started by making mix cds for friends and playing at parties, learning what keeps a crowd going, builds them up, breaks them down and getting feedback all the while. Having enjoyed clubbing for many years, his social group consisted of many Djs/producers and clubbers all sharing a passion for the music whom have all influenced the artist- none more so than his brother Kristian, also known as The Road Runner.
While at university he joined the LSE's Underground Dance Music Society and was given the opportunity to play at a number of events held in the Underground Bar. Rather than playing to trance fans, regulars at nights like Serious at the Cross he experienced a new target audience of students and post-grad students from all over the world who wanted to hear more of the breaks and house records hed been collecting all the while. One night he played breaks for the first set and then dropped some DnB for the final set of the night, much to the surprise of those lasting all the way through!

His performances there attracted a lot of attention, earning him recommendations to promoters and soon enough the sets were coming in thick and fast. While based in Shoreditch he played at nights held in The Charterhouse Bar, Parker's Place, Fluid, Bar 1920, Bed, The Bear, Ember and all the while continued to rock the party scene gaining a reputation for his special blending of house, breaks, electro, techno and trance.
His prime-time club debut came in March 2003 when asked to play a set in The Quad, the hour just before Judge Jules. Bridging from funky house before him, he kept the rhythm going adding techier sounds through the set climaxing to a Trance finale ready for the Judge to take over. He remembers asking Jules if ready to take over to which he replied "No Im enjoying this. Do you want to stay on for a bit more?" This led to him being booked the following September for Party Like Theres No Tomorrow once again playing with Judge Jules, this time for 2 hours in the main room of Turnmills.
In 2004 two of his mixes, Ethereal Trance 1 & 2 were selected to be showcased on chemical-records and he was invited to play live on Pulse FM radio station. Getting on well with producers of the show he was invited back to host his own show "An Education in Dance" which can be heard Thursdays 1230-1400 on Pulse FM on the radio-waves and also live on the internet. At the Pulse FM Awards in April he won the "Best DJ" category, adding another feather to his cap.
Always responding to changes in tastes and shifts in the club scene, his second trip to Ibiza showed him a new sound coming out from DJs such as Felix the Housecat, Danny Ghenacia & Benny Benassi, whom he met with and discussed the new electro-funk genre. He returned to London with an aim to champion this new sound, dropping it into his regular sets at the Masque Bar, Kings Cross.
2005 will see the release of 4 bootleg titles and a remix on the newly formed Looney Tunes record label as well as the release of his compilation series' entitled Funct House & Breaks Electro. He was voted in as new president of the UDMS and has taken this organization in new directions, organizing a DJ competition and putting on some wild parties at Play, 93 Feet East and Plastic People.

      Current Location: Hamburg - Germany
Working as: DJ, Model, Dancers, Moderator
Consists as: DJ, DJ + MC or Lice Act
Music Style: Trance, Hard Trance, Euro-Dance
Brooklyn Bounce is one of Europes most significant Live Dance Acts in the world. They are popular for their progressive sound, strong beats, pumping bass lines and a fat electrifying and bombastic hook line in their tracks. In the eight year history they could release no less than five albums and fourteen singles, which have all stormed the European and World Charts. Brooklyn Bounce was also nominated for two ECHO prizes and a COMET, as well as receiving Gold and Platinum awards.
The producers Matthias Double M Menck and Dennis DJ Bonebeaker Bohn started their commercial succsess in the middle until the end of the 90th. The two Hamburg natives had their first success soon after they  met the first time in 1995. Their first chart hit of Boyz R Us - Singin in my mind  hinted  what will come in the future. In 1997, the duo debuted as Brooklyn Bounce, a characteristical visual dance act fronted by the vocalists and dancers Stephan Damon Zschoppe, Ulrica Bohn and Maeva, two go-go girls from Hamburgs Traxx Club. The Theme (Of Progressive Attack) scaled the German Dance Charts as a club favourite before coming a crossover hit for Brooklyn Bounce in France, Austria, Scandinavia and Germany. The singles success let Brooklyn Bounce decide to produce the debut album, In the Beginning. This album became also big success in whole Europe so they decided to present the second album The Second Attack in the same year.
With the presentation of the album Restart in 2001, Damons career ended with his decision to take more time with his family. Restart was a perfect produced hard trance album, that contains the chartbusters Club Bizarre, Born To Bounce, and Bass Beats & Melody. At this time Brooklyn Bounce was represented on stage by the cool Swede Ulrica Bohn, the fiery Chilean Alexandra Cuevas Moreno and the hot blooded Diabolo Rene Behrens. After many successful years, hundreds of performances together, the third album BB Nation and singles like Club Bizarre, Loud & Proud and Bring it back, Ulrica and Alexandra decided to leave their jobs as singers in the band and pursue new endeavours.
In summer 2003 Brooklyn Bounce started a new chapter in their history. With the support of NESTL SCHLLER and VIVA, two new singers and dancers were sought  in a nationwide casting action. A total of eight final contestants competed on VIVA to join the band. With the help of VIVA-viewers, the competition was won by 21-year-old Marina from Gelsenkirchen and 26-year-old Mandy who lives in Mlheim. Together with Diabolo, they presented the X2X (we want more), Crazy and the album X-Pect The Un-X-Pected which has been released in November 2004.
The secret of their success is not a deal with the devil, it is more the unique, tough winking Brooklyn Bounce Sound, a hot style in varnish and leather with a demonic tempting attitude that was often copyed, but never in such a perfect completion.
Brooklyn Bounce plans for october 2005 to release their new single and their sixth album.

    • Carl Nicholson
Carl Nicholson has been on the forefront of the UK Underground Dance Scene since 1994. Working his way up through the ranks alongside rising stars like John 00 Fleming (MostWanted), Dex N Jonesey (Red Parrot), Luke Branccacio (Bedrock) & DJ Roosta (Honeypot Records), Carl has rocked and conquered every major venue in the Capital & the South West.
Since 1999, Carl has achieved acclaim that many could not wish for in their wildest dreams.  Not only is he the only HardDance D.J to have rocked the world renowned Fabric night-club in London on a regular basis, he has also graced the floors of Glastonbury Festival 2000, Brixton Academy, Heaven & Ministry of Sound to name only a handful.
Carl has held many residences in the past two years but the ones he is most proud of are DTPM, Gifted & The Annual Tony de Vit Memorial of which he is also co-promoter.  Tony de Vit has played a major part in Carls career as being his role model, in the past Carl has seen the rise and fall of many a one year wonder D.J.   But he has always stood to the values and advice of this great man, which was to Always play from the heart and smile and the crowd will love you for it
This is why Carl teamed up with Ray (Tonys Dad), Jayne (Tonys Sister) & the mighty Fevah Productions to hold an annual memorial to commemorate a man who will never & can never be replaced.  Last years event attracted over 3,500 clubbers from all around the UK, and was a night that was truly unforgettable but this year promises to be even better whilst generating revenue for good causes.

Also this year, Carl has had his recent collaboration with James Lawson Times Like These signed to the worlds number one dance label Nukleuz Records.  This track has been causing tremendous waves in Clubland, its had airplay on Radio 1 from Dave Pearce (Dance Anthems) & Lisa Lashes (One live from Nottingham).  Its reached number 14 in the UK Dance Chart & number 19 in the UK Indie Chart, plus its also been signed to Lisa Lashes forthcoming compilation Extreme Euphoria 2.
Also not forgetting that its also getting a battering from the likes of Anne Savage, BK, Paul Van Dyke, Nick Sentience and to many other names to mention.
But, all other things aside.  The real proof is when you hear Carl play.  True to the ideals that made de Vit the legend that he became, Carl is no pigeonhole DJ.   Breaking down boundaries between all types of dance music, fusing and mutating like some kind of powercrazed scientist.  Taunting them & taking them one level further until they are literally begging & screaming for more, and then just when they thought storm had turned, in streams the crescendo and suddenly it all makes sense, this guy behind the decks isnt playing the Lets see whos the fastest DJ scenario. Hes playing tough, hes telling a story, and hes playing straight from the heart.
And now as I draw to a close, I shall leave you with one more thought.  Hes the proud keeper of the Coveted Tony de Vit Trade Bag, hes played alongside pioneers of our scene like Guru Josh, Fatboy Slim & Chemical Brothers as well as the stars of today including Fergie, Anne Savage, Darren Emerson & Dave Pearce.  Hes had to work his way up the ladder from scratch with no help from anyone, no favours from promoters who happen to be friends, no you scratch my back and Ill scratch yours scenarios either.
He's got to where he is out of pure merit and hard graft

      Started Playing: 2001
Styles: Trance, Hard Trance, Techno & Hard House
      Email: chris@chrishawkes.com
      Biography

Chris spent the latter years of his teenage life in the Opera House in Bournemouth worshipping the DJs week in week out. It was after a few months of these banging nights out that he decided he wanted some of the action, so a pair of decks and a mixer was purchased. Three years on and Chris mixing style has been described as tight & technical which has won him sets at major promotions in London and around the country. Chris has also just finished a year studying for an HND in Music Production, which was attained at distinction level, so is now producing his own tunes.

      Music Policy
Chris' music style has evolved from the early days of euphoric trance, progressing onto the hard German Trance and now settled on hard house and techno. With a collection of around 700 tunes, variety is always on the agenda, whether it is trance, hard trance, techno or hard house!
      Future Plans
Chris will be graduating from Guildford's Academy for Contemporary Music in October this year so will continue to produce and play his own tunes within his sets, whilst continuing with self promotion for DJ sets.

An incredible energy, spirit and passion behind the decks...
Clare Large is one of the UKs most hardworking, dedicated and exciting DJs. She was introduced to music aged 8 when she started playing the harp. She's taken it busking all around her home of Cornwall, provided entertainment at weddings, given lessons, recorded a session improvised for Opus 3, played in orchestras and still plays today.

Going to raves many years ago inspired her to start DJing and create her own style. She's played at all kinds of clubs, bars, radio shows, afterhours, free parties, festivals and unusual parties around the world, and lined up with the best in the business. She's played on and organised many extensive tours of America, Bulgaria, Canada, Mexico and India, and has also undertaken sponsored tours, day events and promotions in addition to occasional own nights and her residencies.
Clare's open minded attitude embracing all styles of music makes her incredibly versatile. She can play a huge variety of sets; from a 10+ hour chill out set to peak time hard techno, and pretty much anything in between...she welcomes the variety and has the record collection to back it up! She's best known for relentless, slamming and quirky techno, and also plays tech, deep and funky house, progressive, breaks and electro. In addition to this, she also plays deep, jazzy and soulful house, and really loves eclectic broken beat and nu-jazz sets, with downtempo, lounge and ambient/chill out. Occasional drum and bass sets are not out of the question either!
Clare has a degree (BSc), an HND in Music Technology and Sound Engineering, and she engineers and produces every sort of music. Her diverse tastes make her adaptable, very open minded and extremely versatile. She is always smiling behind the decks! She is approachable, friendly, amiable and enthusiastic. If you book her, your crowds WILL WANT MORE!!!

Clare absolutely loves DJing and is passionate about music. She writes her own material and intends to use her musical background to innovate and challenge not just the sounds we hear but HOW we hear them. She's very involved in surround sound mixing and binaural possibilities. Look around the site for more details...she is developing a 5.1 live show.

Andy Bagguley has Trance Revolution written all over him and in more ways than one. As resident DJ of the UK's highest profile clubs - 'Passion' - Andy spends his evenings providing the weekend soundtrack to the dedicated followers of Passion and his days helping to promote and organise Passion, regularly bringing in the freshest talent and highest profile artists from the UK and internationally.
Still only at the age of 27, Andy has created his own demand through his relentless determination yet laid back friendly attitude which has caught the attention of the music industry and its fans and taken him as a guest DJ to many of the UK's leading events including The Gallery, Serious, Goodgreef, Slinky and Crasher amongst others.
Andy is also the owner of UK label, Instant Music which provides a platform for Andy's solo productions and other up'n'coming as well as well established artists. Andy has seen good support from many of the top jocks globally for his productions whilst remixes for & collaborations with Matt Darey, Riley & Durrant, Factoria, Mike Koglin, JFK, Airbase and others are paving the way for Andy's development as one of the UK's key dance music contributors. Andy has also produced with World Record holder Genix under the name of "Oracle" which saw their first 2 productions well supported by many DJ's.
