Like us, you are probably finding it hard to contain your excitement about our massive New Year’s Eve party…but feat not, because the official dressed rehearsal is just around the corner!
Hot & Spicy will be warming things up ahead of the festive season with another unmissable 3-room mash-up of all things housey, dirty and sexy down at Hidden. And if you think we’re skimping on quality before bringing out the big guns for NYE, you best think again! Hed Kandi allstar Andy Norman headlines in Room 1 with some seriously funky vocal anthems, while the magnificent Kate Lawler continues to go from strength to strength with a dirty electro set in Room 2. Back by popular demand to serve up the classics in Room 3 is the ever-popular Huckleberry Finn from Girls FM. The H&S faithful demand that he plays at virtually all our events – and who are we to argue?
Also don’t miss our stunning, relaxing outdoor terrace (don’t forget to take a breather!), our super-sexy dancers, Ali Bongo, Matt Le Horn on trumpet, plus loads more H&S surprises to ensure the night goes with a BANG! Well it is almost Bonfire Night after all…

KATE LAWLER INTERVIEW!!
Get Hot & Spicy with Kate Lawler!!
Now, Kate Lawler is by no means new to the scene, with her name becoming ever present on plenty of London top lineup's, she's coming into her own and currently tearing up dance floors home and away. I caught up with rising star, and talked 'DJ'...
Welcome Kate Lawler...

So then what was your motivation to start DJ'ing?
Just always loving house music, clubbing and wanting to get behind the decks and learn something cool.
What would you prefer to do as a career; working in TV or working in music?
Can't decide. Both are brilliant. I DJ for the love of music and for fun, not for money. I reckon I'll still be djing when I'm an OAP! But tv is great fun and pays the mortgage too. I enjoy being able to do both!
How does your day job compliment your night job?
Quite well. I do some modelling for ann summers lingerie and present itv2's playdate which is actually on late at night so I'm a bit of a night owl at the moment!
Do you think your appearances on Reality TV shows have an effect on your credibility as a DJ?
Unfortunately yes but it hasn't stopped me doing what I want to do. I just have to work harder to get myself known for being a DJ now and its nice when I can suprise people who think I'm going to press stop start and play hiphop house!
You were out in Ibiza over the summer, working or playing hard?
Both actually. DJing was fun over there but nothing beats the partying and listening to some of the best dj's in the world in ibiza. Its a shame the island is full of thieving bastards however.
Who was your favourite DJ when you were growing up?
I was actually well into my harder house and used to listen to judge jules a lot on the radio. Was a big fan of Todd Terry too.

What's your favourite track at the moment?
I love Trentmollers (one of my fave producers at the moment) remix of robbie williams rudebox and also chris lakes new tune Watching you.
If you could change your DJ name, what would u choose?
Dirty little minx? I don't know something a bit naughty.
With the mainstream popularity of digital music and the increase of quality DJ equipment, do you see vinyl/vinyl DJs becoming a rare breed in years to come?
Yes although I can't imagine clubs ever getting to the stage of only letting DJ's play with laptops it just wouldn't feel right! Pioneer CDJ's are becoming more industry standard in clubs than technics now but its so much easier for travelling and music selection.
Do you have a favourite DJ story?
Not yet! I'm not very rock n roll actually although I do like to party. Ask me again in 3 years and maybe I'll tell you something then.
For those not yet familiar with your DJ'ing, how would you describe your style?
I love house music, all kinds of house depending on what mood I'm in. What I play is generally dirty house, sometimes vocal, sometimes more melodic. I like stuff with driving base lines and break downs with build ups.
What do you think has been central to your success so far?
Not sure, I taught myself to DJ and am keen to start learning all the tricks with the cdj decks. Before I started playing out I made sure I could mix as I know people would be listening with extra ears to see how I did so I guess practicing and practicing was vital before I actually got the bollox to do my first gig.

When do you think you'll make the step from DJ'ing to producing?
Next year some time, its something I really want to do and have already got a few ideas on paper for the sort of tunes I'd like to make. I think it would be great for my dj career to produce something good.
Any plans to DJ, Christmas and New Year?
I'm playing cardiff and swansea on the 23rd of December. Christmas day and boxing day I always spend with my family and New years eve I'm playing in edinburgh and glasgow I can't wait!
What does 2007 have in store for you musically?
All I know at the moment Is that I'm playing in dubai in january and dubai is one of my fave places so very excited about that. Also my friend who runs the successful Fervor parties at the chapel bar, london is going to be doing a new thursday night in the city of london next year so look out for that.
And Finally... How Hot & Spicy are you?
I'd say I'm like a Biryarni. Hot and Spicy, but you'll regret me in the morning. (You aint seen me without make up!)
Kate will be headlining alongside Andy Norman and Legendary Huckleberry Finn, not forgetting all your Hot & Spicy favourites-Hidden 4th Novmeber. Get yourself gone....

Breakbeat pioneer and leader of the 'nu skool' of tech-funk producers Meat Katie is a big fan of the growing AV scene and has been working with our very own VJ Anyone on a series of music promos and AV / DJ dates to support his recently released 'Vibrator' album. From this event on, this electro-beamoth gives us the official seal of approval by lending his full support to The AV Social by co-presenting our parties with his awesome 'Lot 49' imprint. With each party now exclusively featuring at least one Lot 49 artist (first up 'Superstar' DJ Dylan Rhymes) watch out for the awesome Meat Katie dropping by at a future date!
> D-Fuse launch new book 'VJ: Audio-Visual Art + VJ Culture' - Exclusive Book Launch Party!
One of the world's leading AV crew D-Fuse are a group of artists and designers who work across a range of creative media from web, print, TV, film, art and architecture to live AV performances D-Fuse work in collaboration with musicians (including Scanner, Beck & Leftfield) as well as creating idents for TV Studios around the world. Here they launch their new book 'VJ: Audio-Visual Art + VJ Culture' which combines information about the history of VJ culture alongside current trends whilst also acting as a manual and reference point to this rapidly expanding trend. It also showcases 120 International artists also with live exclusive performances which accompany the DVD.
> Tom Real joins as resident DJ
Have regularly played across London as well as holding a four-year residency at the world famous nightclub 'The End' This last year has seen Tom concentrate on production. With two singles alongside production partner The Rogue Element on Functional Records, numerous remixes under his belt on labels such as Passenger and West and Radio support from the likes of Judge Jules, Zane Lowe and Annie Nightingale - who asked to broadcast Tom's DJ Set from this years Glade festival on her Radio 1 show, Tom really is beginning to shine.
Further to this November's event also welcomes performances from extremely talented guests: Top 20 VJ listers AlexEtJeremy , US AV Maestro Justin Kent, Ministry Of Sound resident Dubassy alongside a showing of works by cutting edge motion graphics director, curated by [4x4]
ALexEtJeremy hail from Amsterdam and describe themselves as an 'underground-kitsch-trash-queer VJ team' which gives you an insight into what we can expect. Drawing influences from Glam Rock to New Wave from 50's science fiction to the beginning of cinema delivered in a kitsch and cynical way a-la AlexEtJeremy.
Justin Kent is a self-proclaimed 'Experienced Jockey' from Miami. Brought up on a hyperactive diet of MTV and the internet Justin rode the original dot-com boom hacking code at the original Napster. With a passion for clubbing he quickly grew tired of mixing records and began experimenting with video. Inventing the worlds first Midi Turntable, an optical system for DJ'ing video, he has performed across the globe spinning a unique mix of music videos and underground dance.
Dubassy fuses filmed footage, time-lapse stills and self made stop motion graphics. Currently based in Marseille he has VJ'd at all the UK's premier festivals including Glastonbury, Big Chill, Homelands and Global Gathering alongside regularly performing at London club nights such as Ministry Of Sound and the Hospital Records parties at Heaven.
As with previous events The AV Social will be utilising Clerkenwell House's unique layout to provide a warm, inviting area for members of the AV community alongside clubbers to network, socialise and party with upstairs being a more relaxed environment kicking off with the screening of [ 4x4] followed by audiovisual performances from Justin Kent and D-Fuse whilst downstairs the lights dim and the beats get tougher when Dylan Rhymes and Tom Real take to the decks accompanied by VJ's Dubassy and AlexEtJeremy.
