I've just had my first ever fiddle with cd decks at a lock in at a bar i used to work at. It might have something to do with the fact that I'm a bit pissed but I'm proper confused. They had a CDJ800 and a 1000 and I think I must have been a bit heavy handed cos it just wouldn't go quite right. It didn't help that I was playing with funky, which I do like and know, but haven'[t got a clue what any of the tracks are called so it involved a lot of guess work. I'm going down on monday for their open bag night to have a proper play with some 'real' tunes. I'm quite exicted really. It'll be the first time that I've played on a proper club system ( Mark 3 technics, CD…

  12. anyone else got records that you find are just an absolute twat to keep in time with others? generic trance and i would imagine most hard house/trance tunes dont have this problem, but i got a few tracks that i just tend to avoid playing cos there is just something about them that just makes them an arse to mix. The new Tiesto album is infected with this curse. main one that just pissed me off is deep dish. oddly quantised records do my fucking head in

  18. basically a VSTi (i think thats hte name for it?) that can generate just about any percursive sound i could wish for. free would be great but i'm not as worried about paying (a reasonable amount) for something like this failing that - a percussion sample cd would be good

  19. Free-Spirit DJ’s & Production Agency Update “ Feb 05â€ 2005 is now firmly upon us and it looks like a busy year ahead for all our artists. Our Psy sector has grown with the addition of Edoardo (Neurobiotic) and DJ Sam@Chaishop. Our Ambient sector is up and running, made up of Nova (Ultimae records), Jay Om and DJ Sam@Chaishop. 2005 is looking like the a very promising year for Cimi aka Marchello. All, I've been out of the ex-demo/second hand gear market for a few years and I'm just wondering how much you reckon I should pay for a 2nd hand YAMAHA MOTIF ES8 ? (i'm finally fed up of my main controlloer keyboard the SY-85, and I want weighted keys/hammer action) I'm probably going to put some bids in on e-bay and just want to have a ball-park figure idea. I think they cost about £1,800 new Cheers,

Last year Emagic was taken over by Apple, this was a massive kick in the butt for us Logic users for eventually we would know that all updates would end. I myself use Logic Audio Platinum 5 which I updated to the latest version for Windows to version 5.5, I also use the EMI 2/6 Soundcard which also has the latest (last) drivers. I recently had a look at the Emagic web site and there are now no files available for Windows only Macs. So if anyone requires any of these updates please contact me via my web site and I will email you them on. Thanks Ryan Anthony My Webpage

Hi all, this just popped up with us and i thought id pass it on here... Hope you are well, and a big Hi to James and Maria, Good luck keeping the rabble civil At a quick glance they have still gone with the stupid green - yellow - red system of lights, Why the fack anyone designs a mixer with the optimum level half way up the faders is a bit of a mystery to me. I cant see from that picture, but i hope they have the 0db mark at the top of the reds this time rather than at the top of the greens. Either that, or the mixer should give the DJ a shock from the mains when they go into the reds. Also it seems like they have left off the sampler / effects un…

The line-up is one of the biggest ever seen with appearances from Plump DJs, Stanton Warriors, Rennie Pilgrem, Freestylers, Krafty Kuts, Meet Katie and many many more top international breakbeat artists. Max Cooper is the hottest new talent around in the high profile breakbeat world, vote for him in the best breakthrough act section. Max is undeniably one of the UK’s finest breaks DJs and has already knocked up an impressive array of achievements considering his young age. It's also available on Sky Channel 921, Cable & NTL. The show is called Solid State and is broadcast Saturday nights 7pm-9pm. The music is predominantly 'trance' and has a variety of features, one of which is the Sol Showcase. Over the last 15 months, the Showcase has featured some of the world's finest dj talent in a 30 minute mix. As of 2005, every month I will be featuring a mix from someone who has yet to be recogni…
