Dave Clarke Press release: The Move from Vinyl to CD After some time (I wanted to move to CD in 1997) I have finally got a machine that i believe is sonically and technically up to the job of replacing the hallowed and much loved 1210. I was originally asked to demo the Technics CD deck in New York at the beginning of the year but i didn't have the space in my calendar, however after finally getting my hands on one I have concluded that I will now switch over to cd's in the short term, this will take some time and allow me to road test the machine in clubs. Initially I will bring my own, but would appreciate any promoters that read this and have budget to either…

right ive just got both programs and for the life of me i cant figure out how to sequence the reason channels seperately. eg. when i put redrum1 assigned to midi channel 1 the whole lot comes through rather than just the kick ive tried using 2 drum machines and the same happens! also the actual sequencing does nt seem to work because it just keeps on playing continously, im obviously doin somat wrong but i havent the foggiest what can anyone shed any light on it?

can't even load up the main desktop anymore. basically i've been told by the helpline to take it back and exchange it for a new one. so being me, i didn't back up any files (which i can't even access now), so i've lost the last 4 weeks work on it. all my samples i'd cut from tunes and vinyl (spent hours doing that too) was just starting to get somewhere with my first tune attempt too (30 hours work went into that) what a bastard hey

now i sware its not me being crap at mastering (although i dont doubt that i am crap at it) but when im working on a tune in fruity and preview a track it sounds as i want it. the kicks are punchy, the percussion is crisp and no sound is drowning out any other sound (or not so i can notice anyway) now my problem is when i export it. the percussion distorts, the kicks loose their punch and sounds get drowned out. i cant work this out. even playing the exported WAV and/or MP3 on my computer it sounds shit even though it sounds ok in fruity on the same machine does anyone know why this is happening and/or how to fix it?

Since Ian showed me how to work a midi vsti , when ever i make a rift and fill a pattern, this seems to blow the CPU through the roof. At times i was running 54 patterns at once and tyhe cpu didn't ever go past 4 or 5. but with just once midi channel running it takes it over 80 and fruity sometimes overloads and the sound jumps/skips.......help i was thinking to copy this mid i channel as a wav and re load it back in, would this solve the problem, as i haven't tried it yet. i hope so as looks like i can only run 1 midi channel per track at the moment

Eek - wasnt really sure where to post this as this guy isnt a member ... My flatmate D@ Pander has had 2 of these mixes going this morning from this site - SUPERB, probably some of the best Funky House I've heard for a while; (since Garlands) http://www.thehyperintelligentslug.co.uk/main.shtml Tell you what though I'm well confused on the legal status of all these, my mate is going to put all his mix CDs online as well and now I'm wondering if we should just say 'fook it' and do it here as well ????

a little birdy tells me that CTW is now working for Frantic. If this brings extra exposure to the site then it sounds like a bloody good idea (although it would be nice to see a greater push in non-hardhouse directions, but thats as much my fault as anyone elses) basically because of this i am informed that there are some things we can not say about some DJs. Just so i'm clear on the matter, what can we say w/o getting are wrists slapped?

I was recommended to use this for creating loops by a dj, as he said it's very easy to get going on. which sounded great for me as i've only just started to look at production. When looking at it for the first time it seems identical to "sonic foundry (video vegas)", which is great for me as i know how to use video vegas quiet well. does anyone know what the differences are between the 2 thou, other than not being able to edit video in acid pro. cheers

the djm707 and djm 909 had a play with the 909 on sunday and it is amazing the curve for the cross fader is changeable for each side meaning you can customise it to your hearts content for scratching etc it also has a touch screen effects unit that you use the normal channel faders to control after selecting it its been designed with the scratch perverts as well not used or seen the 707 except in pictures, but it is bascially the same without all the extra features like the FX unit

I'm thinking of getting one of these Pioneer CDJs. There's quite a big price hike from the 800 to the 1000, but I'm not convinced I need all the extra features. I'm not bothered about about looping, digital outputs, memory cards etc... I tried out both models in a shop last night and was very pleasantly surprised by how similar it is to manipulating vinyl. I read somewhere that the 800 is not so good for scratching, is this true? They both had a very similar feel to me. I know I'm a bit behind the times here, but having finally got round to trying out these CDJs with the scratch jog wheels, I'm blown away by how easy it is to cue up the tracks, and how fun the interface…
