Saw an interesting thread on harderfaster about using the pitch whilst in the mix instead of touching the vinyl etc. I've been getting to grips with this method over the last year or so, but just wondered what are your thoughts on this guys. And what way do you use to mix your tunes?

i know this is a total longshot but, what the hell. you don't ask you don't get. my burning man theme camp is down a CDJ for this year. we provide an art experience and a dance music venue for 8 days in the desert at the burning man festival we need to find a CDJ frere (or really cheap) within the next 4 or 5 days? do you, of somebody you know, have one which is perhaps sitting unused despite your best intentions? want to donate it to a home where it will be loved and will help put a smile on the face of thousands of people? drop me a PM and thanks in advance for any help alasdair

As a few people will know I've just purchased a cd deck to compliment my set up. The last time I had the chance to use one of these was years and years ago and I thought that they were crap! How time and technology have moved on I used it for the first time yesterday and to be perfectly honest found it so easy, without even trying, my very first mix was as good as my best vinyl mixes. It was no fun compared to vinyl as there was just no challenge in getting it right. For people that can't beat match it must be an absolute dream, the beat counters just take all the skill out of it! Vinyl CDs They're no fun and it takes no skill and very little …

I've recently bought a Vestax pcv275 mixer and am a bit puzzled with it. I've got a pair of 1210MK5G's linked up to it, Cerwin-Vega 15's powered by a huge NAD amp. Now the problem i've got is that on my old shite Gemini Mixer i only needed to use the master and gain volumes on a fairly low setting to get a decent volume. With this Vestax i've got everything on full chat to get a decent output to the amp. Also the master for the headphones is on full and i can only just hear the sound through them. Have i got a duff mixer or is there something i dont know about setting it up?

i'm getting back into guitar playing and i've started practicing with a friend who is a telented psytrance producer. i don't know if anybody here is that familiar with psytrance but we're hoping to collaborate on some psytrance with heavy guitar - download 'dance of the witches' by 's.u.n. project' to get an idea. anyway, the point? most of my experience guitar playing is college rock, stones covers, pentatonic blues scales - simple stuff like that. i'd like to start exploring and practicing a more appropriate guitar genre and i'm thinking heavy metal is probably going to be a good place to start. does anybody have any recommendations for scales/modes…

The mixes coming from this man lately are fantastic and getting better and better. He was even good enough to give me his ONE OFF latest mix on tape after I heard it thumping out after Global Gathering. WTF are we doing ? Mod1 should be playing Trance in back rooms ASAP. We need a CTW Trance Promotor who can get this dude some sets ASAP! Please show your support for our very own Mod1 on this post, one day i'm sure we'll get to play some Trance DJs and Mod1 is at the TOP of my list. Nice1 Ian.

Hello all! I have two new mixes online in the trance/techno/breaks flavor. To all the house heads, I will have 2 new house mixes up soon as well. Feel free to check them out if you are interested, but you will need Windows Media Player: Techy - Techno, Tech-Trance, and Breaks ------------------------------------------------------------------- Play - Download | Playlist Added as of 2003-07-12 A new mix for new times.I tried to stay away from the more epic or flowy trance flavors and keep it more underground. Basic way to describe it - some of it's old, some of it's new, none of it was borrowed, but I threw in LaTour's "Blue". This mix was name…

OMG I have never witnessed such an intense set! His build ups and breakdowns to his tunes were so immense it was like being back at GC NEC watching PvD tease the crowd. As dirty as you like! Halliwel was god on Saturday. Iv never really thought much of the guy, and regardless of his [censored] ups on Saturday, he still was the only DJ that shone thru Saturday night IMO. I will most deffo be making the effort to see him in the future.

(They are deffo getting sent back! )
