hey james i know the grass is always greener... i frequent another board called bluelight. on the main forum pages, they have a legend in the left margin. regular posts looks like this: if i have participated in a thread, the legend looks like this: thus i can scan the left margin and see immediately which posts i'm involved in. it's a nice feature. is it possible to implement this on CTW. i did a quick search at infopop but came up blank. alasdair

Please note that due to continued mis-use of the Serious Issues forums we have had to turn on 'real moderation' on these forums. This is due to 2 members being recently targetted in the relationship issues forum and have asked me to sort it out. All posts in these sections now have to be approved by the moderators first before they are visible to all. Turning off anonymous isnt the answer as we want to encourage members to post anon, specifically in the drugs & relationship forums. Note: this is not in relation to the recent 'this site' post - these anon posts remain acceptable.

I've not sent one of these out, in fact anything on the mailing list at all, since 19th March 2003. The main reason has been because we dont want to just send out a load of useless information which you could find out on the site anyway (there is enough Spam already!) Please let me know if you think we should be sending a newletter out which states our progress and planned trips/events. Also, it would be really useful if you could feed back any ideas you may have for the newsletter. cheers.

i've seen other boards do this and i was wandering if it would work here: i'll try explain this the best way i can...... we create a Big Brother forum that containts possibly ten ctw board users, they are restricted to that forum and can go know where else for a certain period of time, if they do try and sneak to other sections of the site they receive a weeks ban and instant disqualification. We have the Medical Room, where clubbers can go and speak to big clubber for any reason or to try and beg for early release. The contestants vote for 2 or 3 people to be evicted at a frequency to be chosen, the vote for removal from the forum is then put to the rest…

james - i dont think we need a moderator as such, but i do wish the dj producers forum was split into:- 1- (tunes and reviews)+ (djs and producers) add the two 2- a seperate 'post your mix cds and links to your online mixes here to get opinions on them' type forum. kinda like 'promote yourself' but just for djs 3- production and recording tips and Q&A 4- a seperate 'post your productions here to get opinions on them' type forum. kinda like 'promote yourself' but just for producers what does everyone think? in forum 3 we could perhaps have a sticky explaining the pros and cons of each of the major bits of software that we all like to use …

I'm afraid we cant allow blatent advertising in signatures - especially banners - no one wants to see them - its bad enough having to have a banner at the top right of the forums, let alone on every post from certain individuals. Of course we dont mind DJs/Producers/people in the industry advertising themselves but advertising others (especially when not music/club related) we cant allow. Also some signatures are ridiculously long. I will PM the main offenders! *Rant_Over*

Before you could show all users posts, now you can also display all the threads a user has started/initiated. There is an extra link on the profile screen at the bottom... Show all this users: Posts or Threads

As you probably noticed the site has been down for most of today. Its now back (obviously), however I'm still waiting for a reason as to what the problem was from support. Have a great time tonight in Manchester - sorry I cant be there!

I think the "last post" column should display the title of the last posted thread and posters name Like it does in the main forum. I dont know why but I just do.

Wouldn't it be better if there were like standard questions then part of their profile was dynamic that they can log into and update. I've just finished something really similar at work and it works really well. It's a walk in the part to set up too. For example we could have like a artist page where you have like: Name Age DJing Style (and photo) then you then click on a more info link or the pic that takes you to their actual profile page where it's more in depth. I feel that whackin a mass of text is bad practice because it can put people off. Can we not create a separate site for the smut forum? I am fed up of logging on, and just finding post after post by people who are either frustrated or repressed, or who are trying to show how open-minded they are. Can't they just have their own, separate message board, so the rest of us can just get on with posting are usual crap. I am not saying get rid of it, just give it a separate bit, so all the posts stop appearing in the "active topics". Blink, not repressed, but open-minded, who just doesn't feel the need to broadcast it to the entire planet.
