Acid Disco - Paul Glazby & The Narcomaniacs Been listening to this a lot since Saturday when I finally got round to listening to Chris Hawke's latest Demo CD - Energizer (which is most excellent BTW! - nice one Chris) This is a quality tune - not sure how long its been out but reflect on the type of HH I like most - what I would call Driving Hard House (until someone corrects me). I find tunes like this have a close resemblence to the faster/harder intelligent Techno I like - like that played at the afterclub (Fire?) after Smile the other week. By the way if anyone knows who the DJ was for the last hour or so before I left PLEASE let me know - the musi…

lots of people are starting to jump on the funky bandwagon, even on this site it has happened. People who were once into HH are now saying its shite and for kids and now they are more refined clubbers. is it that Funky is getting better, or are these people the same people into Garage 2-3 years ago, then HH and now Funky. Cos its in?? I cant understand how some people can love a genre of music and completely turn their back on it 5 minutes later. and say its all crap. understandable if the scene is lacking inspiration but you you dont rule it all out completey. Funky house is a phase, fr the trendies to chew up and spit back out before the next genre come…

i forget the exact artist name etc but this is easily one of my (if not my all time) fav down tempo tune. its kinda tribaly proggy house tune featuring a woman singing "i wish that you were here with me". i forget the specific mix that i prefer (altho every mix i've heard so far has been lush) but it was track 5 on an old ministy mag cover cd some years ago ("funky deap and tribal")

That Public Domain's "Bass in the place London" tune was a cover of the classic New Order track "Confusion"? New Order were well ahead of their time. Alex V

I reckon its gone downhill. I still love trance and the new stuff coming out but i dont think that there are that many new tracks that are coming out that are instantly recognisable and will remain a classic for years like "System F - Out of the Blue" or practically ne other tune from that era. Back in '99 when i first got into trance there were so many tracks out that were timeless classics. I recently bought 2 trance albums and apart from the timeless classics on there (albeit remixed) all the tunes sound so similar and i cant really identify with ne of them. They're all trying to produce the most euphoric breakdown they can whilst forgetting that what the clubbers real…

horrorist - 1 night in NYC this is a dark tune. very minimal techno with little more than a kick, vocals about drugs and underage sex and a riff (i think thats that name for it) that sounds like it should have been used in the exorcist. this is and will always remain one of my favourite tunes to play with no intention of trying to a set to fit it in in my opinion, a classic (this thread was inspired by clare dc posting that dire tune about drugs in hackney)

Hey guys I was just listening to an old tune and was wondering if anybody remembers it? Older clubbers used to tell me that this tune was a root of modern dance music. I still like my old stuff.

I heard this tune at Magna on NYE and i think it was the first set of the night. Scott Majestik, and the breakdown had male vocal in it, and he was slagging his way through the radio 1 dj's. All i remember of the lyrics are something about dave pearce drivetime being the best dj show. and fergie refuses to go above 145bpm, and then about John Peel. It kept saying 'John Peel is NOT the man' Its a fuckin awesome track, and i want it, if anyone can help!

I foooooking love this tune, only the original, not the bastadised remixes that made it sound awful.

It's a vocal (mix maybe?). It's a bloke singing "As a new day's dawning, feels like sunday morning. If this is heaven, I'm not afraid of hell" Any ideas? For those of you that went to Passion, it was one of the last of JFK's set...

Didn't think I was gonna like this when I bought it, but I think it may be even better than the Marco V one from 2002 ! Track 7 onwards would have me dancing my tits off in a club. Proper bassy, deep, bringyouuplikeamuthfucka type music. Not as good as 'Fridays Child' by Will Young tho. (review courtesy of Tommy aka djtommy aka c.u.n.t.)
