"Funky House" is a funny thing to say when you think about it. I mean, all house is designed to be funky, that's kinda the point of house. What house producer goes into the studio thinking "hmm I'm gonna make a house tune but I don't want any of that funky business" I therefore propose that everyone stops calling it funky house. It's house. The funky bit is redundant. That is all.

NB bought what cd: what style: Who mixed it: Ur opinion: Heres mine Frantic residents 4 Hard Trance Phil Reynolds Only listened once thru and that was disjointed due to cooking dinner. Other than that, some solid tunes with gr8 mixing as usual from the man.

i love this track. its got a nice chunky bassline to it. a nice groove to it. imo its 1 of the 1st tunes i've heard thats compined techno and hardhouse well w/o having to go down the slow minimal dull route that so many others do. if i was gonna get musically pedentic i would say it was Nu NRG side of the harddance spectrum. but like so many other music genres, its open to debate. either way tho - it fills my appertite quite nicely

its not a label that seems to get much mention yet i think the standard of their output is very high but then when the producers they have under their belt include: * Ant * Chris Liberator * D.A.V.E. the drummer * Mark Tyler its hardly suprising quality non-anal acid techno

really went off the RAW label as quite frankly the last year or so has been utter shite with spawn after spawn of samey unintellegent 'techno'. however this tune stands out. you can deffinately hear chris' influence behind the tune. still pretty much the same formula as every other RAW release, only with a tough acid line flowing though it. it just gives it that little edge the track needed to stand apart from others. having said all this - its still not a fantastic track. still the same formula as his other work. and still lacks some intelegence behind the tune, but its good enuf for me to part with 7 golden nuggets and spin on my spinning wheels of joy i…

Ok lovers of fine music...Session 43 is on in all its glory. CLICK HERE TO STREAM THE SHOW IN ITS ENTIRETY For those who would rather download, here's the lineup with hyperlinks to their individual mixes: 1) DJ Fresko (retro-electro) 2) D-Jam (Deep house/old school) 3) Busy Boy (360 mix) 4) Pump Boy Lee (Funky bangin house) SESSION HIGHLIGHTS: With the holiday, we decided to delay the session a week so the next few sessions will not conflict with Christmas or New Years. I (D-Jam) was alone in hosting as the guys played some rather smooth mixes. Fresko started things off with a great old school mix for all the retro-electro fans out there. …
