Posted February 20, 200421 yr CTW Members We all say 'ohh I love that tune' or 'I loved that night', but when it comes down to a personal level, to me, saying to someone that I love them, be it friends or partner, I just couldn't come out with the words 'I love you' unless it was 100% the case. How can you say to someone you've known for so little a time 'I love you' ? Is it just a phrase used instead of 'I like' ? What do these people say when they truely do love someone? 👶
February 20, 200421 yr CTW Promotors The word love has so many meanings & levels IMO Dawn, but I guess some of us not myself, but most have not really experienced *true love*. I have in the past told peeps I loved them, my ex hubby, but I do know now, without sounding corny, that I did not love him, because, the feelings I have now for Tony are so different & I do know it is Love!! Love & lust/caring greatly are easy to confuse, until you really do feel it & when you do experience it, well it is, as far as im concerned undescribable, like your first Pill!!! Know what you mean there Lisa, suppose I'm thinking more on a friendship level. I can say to my best friends whom i've know for years that 'I love them' truely, they are like sisters and brothers to me, to my bessie mates 'I wuv them' truely, they are people I want round me and who i'd like to get to know more, but I have to know people, as much as possible before I could come out with such a sentiment. So basically people use the word 'love' when they possibly mean 'like' 👶
February 20, 200421 yr The greeks have something like 13 different words for love each applying to the different subtleties of the meaning of the word. You love a place in a different way you'd love your family and that's different to how you love your friends or a lover. I find people don't tend to use the word lightly, but the meaning may be misinterpreted. I don't think I've ever told someone that I loved them meaning "in love" unless it was true but I've told countless friends/family that I love them.
February 20, 200421 yr CTW Members hmm interesting point.... I may say in loose context, I ''love'' peanut butter on toast every morning...but if I couldn't have it I wouldn't be distraught!! (would have bovril instead) - but as Kether said, there are different meanings to it....As I don't love Peanut butter in the same way that I do my family and friends!!! I never write the word spelt 'Luv' though in texts or in cards etc - dunno why, is either the proper way or nothing.... chilled out beach house thru to bangin' hard german trance http://stores.ebay.co.uk/worldwidevinyl
February 20, 200421 yr CTW Members i know i loosly say it in texts etc. but actually saying it to someones face is different. I havent told anyone that i love them for years, i physicaly cant say the words, so whoever gets me to say it is gona be really special i guess and i agree the word is totaly overused, and its makeing it less meaningful
February 20, 200421 yr CTW Members i say love a lot!!! when i text speak or see people i care about alot i do tell them i love them!!! i love them in a way where i want to be with them they make me happy they make me smile and when they arent there or i dont speak/see them i feel lost!!
February 20, 200421 yr CTW Members I'd never say it if I didn't mean it, its not something that should be thrown around loosely imo!
