one of my hdd's just 'died' lucky is was a working pc but one of the otheres is storage so 15 or so dvd's to back it up I think

 

means all my work has to be in the lounge now & I cant watch dvd's in bed >cry<

I am going to convince my mum that an external HD is very beneficial

either one that is not permantly connected or make sure it is all backed ip

no benifit untill u get one 'die' then worth there weight in gold so you dont think OH f*ck if only I backed up or had another hdd

neon - i feel your pain - i just lost 2 partitions on my hd - it also sounds VERY noisy and keeps coming up with imminent failure - so i've had to copy everything over to a new HD

Just built my mate a 2.8 AMD , 40 gigg hdd , good graphis card , cd reader & writer , modem .

 

He only wanted the box and not to canibilize his othere one (otherewise cheeper) so it cost him under £300 with a few bit for me that he threw in

The price of them now , go for a removable one (in a box in a cd rom space) you only realise how good they are when you loose everything
