but urs is also probably cheaper. i would have gone with ntl if i'd had the option. they've improved a lot since they had a small staff reshufle about 1-2 years ago.

james do you know what adsl companies offer 1 meg of unlimited downloads? i'm already on my way to my second gig today :\

Lisa - you've got a cable service as well, which is better than the equivalent ADSL service...

Phil - check out www.ispreview.co.uk

asynchronous digital subscriber line

which meenz...

normal phones are analogue. the maximum amount you can transmit along them is the 56k modem type thing.

recently they've made everything digital tho, and the maximum amount of bandwidth you can get out of a phone line with digital whatmerjigs is a lot more - 1 or 2 MBits's. but you have to be quite close to your exchange otherwise the signal gets fucked cos of pidgeons sitting on the line

the 'A' bit in ADSL (see above) means you send/receive at a different speed. if it was sending and receiving at the same speed it's DSL.

if you need any more info please feel free to ask Maria

When I worked for NTL I had 1MEG at home for something like, £11 and all cable channels for £1 per month and my own personal phone line in my room for next to nothing ! Cheap as .. pah

I remember when dual bonding was fast @ 128 kb/s
