Just been arguing for about an hour with IIS (for those non-techies it's the piece of software within Windows, normally servers, that serves web pages).

 

 

Integrated Authentication had just stopped working out the blue. Nothing I did could get it to work again. Then it just started again. Hmmm...

To be fair, there's usually a reason for something going wrong... I love the challenge of finding out what/why/how something's happened and correcting it. On this occassion, however, I know that there's been nothing changed and there's no technical reason I can find! A quick sniff round Tek-Tips seems to show that this has happened to others as well.

I did start reading about Apache and also had some software to learn about it - but I got hooked on some other tech stuff - if memory serves, Apache is used with Linux (aswell) ? :s

 

Hmm come to think of it I think I was learning Apache when I bought a book on PHP ..

mankster any chance you can loan me your it books & notes etc when your done please, im gonna swat then I can join in with you guys & look smart too

Yah - the best book I have at the mo which I am currently reading to 'upgrade' my brain is Upgrading & Fixing PCs. It's quality and so 'easy going'. Off topic sorry Bukes :$

yes It will be good the repair part at least for after ive bashed the pc for not being able to work it in the first place

Apache HTTP Server is a cross-platform webserver... It's used a lot on Linux, but there are versions for Windows and Netware. It's the world's number one webserver. PHP is a module that can be added to Apache, and to other webservers.
