February 23, 200421 yr CTW Members QUOTE (alasdairm @ Feb 23 2004, 16:50) QUOTE (big_ee69 @ Feb 23 2004, 08:34) The buyers at the supermarket chains have to taste it. i have trouble believing this. can you substantiate it? alasdair erm..well i know personally as ex-co-workers, at least two pet food buyers who told me what it tasted like, so short of getting a sworn statement that's about as close as you can get. Also how would you tell wether one was better than another, unless u tasted it. You can't ask the animals, and seeing which the animals prefer is fine as a marketing line, but doesn't really cut it when you are sourcing, selecting, and negotaiting over prices. And to be honest the marketing is all aimed at owners, so the premium stuff needs to look and smell appealing to people. And if it looks and smells appealing that generally means it tastes appealing.
