Not a problem with that but i thought the idea of live prey is so the big cat can stalk, track, hunt and kill its own, not to be fed it through a door in the wall. The live prey doesn't have a chance which takes the nature out of the chase.

currently its illegal to feed live mammals as food to captive animals. although its ok to feed live insects to captive animals, the insects don't have a chance either do they?

 

there are devices which can be installed to drag carcasses across an enclosure to simulate a hunt for the animals but most zoo's don't have the money to install them.

 

it's disgusting really when you think most zoo's claim their ultimate conservation goal is reintroduction to the wild, but most captive animal's lost the ability to hunt generations ago, and as these skills are normally taught by the mother to their young, reintroduction is nearly impossible.
