To this day I still dont know - or what has happened to our data/my code. It got to the point whereby something was definitely 'up' / something strange going on and I had to cut my loses and start afresh. The forums are actually hosted by Invision themselves, and I've been searching hard for a new dedicated server, which I have now found. I intend to move the forums across to the new server where the new gallery, reviews and other sections of the site will go back up on - so everything is better integrated. Having said that its quite nice having the forums hosted on their own as they wont get affected by the main server - so still in two minds about transferring them across (its also not my bandwidth which is used up and the forums take up about 80%+ of the transfer per month)

Is it not possible to keep the forums as it is, and have the galleries and everything else linked from this site/server to another server? Or is that too expensive or impossible.

Anything is possible and yep - should be able to talk from one site to another (e.g. mysql queries etc).

 

Will probably keep forums as they are - they run fast, I dont have to worry about space, backups etc.. and they cost fook all to run via Invision's own hosting solution. Can then use main server/site for lots more cool stuff

this board is ace m8!!! invision def r 1 of the best - nice that its all coming back tho

yeh would be great to keep the board as is, its tidy & easy to use

that's pretty appalling behaviour for a business. what was the name of the company involved - i would want to discourage anybody doing business with them in the future...
