well this morning my pc did its old trick and needed re intalling from disc again

well id had enough no viruses found as usual so i went and got spybot program went out leaving it searching and came back to find it had found 39 spywear programs all from sites such as fun stuff and the typical teenage websites

grrrrrrrrrrr at kirsty wen she babysat

 

anyway my pc works a treat now

 

i no pointless but ah what the hell it may make some of u think shit i havnt got that

& ur surprised?

 

if you're connected to the net, you should rate having anti virus and anti spyware programs, at the same level as having an 'on' button on your pc.

 

- if you're connected to the net with none of these utilities running, why not open your front door too

well its my first pc and 1st time net at home how the fuck am i meant to know everything and besides i have had to wait as my net was having problems downloadiong the spybot or any download since bloody msn 7

we had a topic up a wee while back about all this, i thought u was gonna download the free Zone Alarm firewall and the AVG anti-virus programs maybe??? if not do it anyway! and if u want more, get more... its like havin 3goal keepers instead of 1, know what i mean?

it says spybot and it found spywear i had virus checker anyway and as maria pointed out also bt told me u can only have 1 virus checker running on ur pc as they conflict with each other

i couldnt download anything cos my pc is pretty crap but today it reinstalled everything and i got spybot and some firewall thing vince gave me links too and it has cleared 47 but 2 it cant as they are in the registry how the fuck do i get them

 

 

Dani - Zone alarm is a firewall, not a virus scanner, AVG is a virus scanner and spybot/adaware etc are for removing spyware from your pc so it's perfectly fine.. in fact its advisable to have all 3 on your pc.. or at least some variation of them if different manufacturers (ie norton instead of AVG etc)

spyware is a sort of virus program anyway in that they invade ur pc and installs itself without u even being aware of it.

If you have spybot, setup the Immunize section and that should help

 

Also, use firefox instead of internet explorer - most spyware work using ActiveX, something not supported by Firefox

claire i know that i was saying to domo about loads of virus scanners

domo know its not its completely different

chris i tried but my pc crashed il try today, i even did the scan with spybot on bootup and wen it found them and i tried to get rid it crashed my pc as they are in registry

oh dear, sounds like your gonna have to spent a few hours going through regedit (found in windows dir) removing all program registrys that relate to spyware :-/

hmmmmmmmm think i have to call upon boss wen i go to tidy to drop me pc to his

before rebooting the pc by the disc again, delete the C drive first... delete all the drives (when it asks you that is...) that way when u install windows to the computer again it will be totally afresh and nothing on it, like u bought it new from the shop
