its prob like Egypt , armed police every 250 yards but trouble was non existant . I would say have a look & see what you think just go with a open mind

thats a bit of an over-reaction, mym mum & dad went over christmas & they travelled all over the island, some travel companys advise you not to venture outside of the resort but you wouldnt need an armed policeman unless you were royalty

well as emma just said her friend wasnt allowed to leave there site

maybe if it was group excursion they were only allowed by escort in petes friends case maybe the area they were in at the time had had some trouble

travel companies are not going to send you to a resort if you are 'NOT ALLOWED' to leave the hotel, you can go where ever you want as long as you realise thats it at your own risk.....as i stated 'some comapanies advise you not to leave your resort'

 

whether i reply to emma or pete has sweet FA to do with anything! i picked out petes because it seemed more far-fetched than emmas

emma's friend wasnt allowed to leave the resort petes mate had to have an armed escort

seems very much the same to me

andf as i said maybe at the time trouble had happened for the safety they would have to keep them as safe as possible and it cant be predicted

wont see my mate till over the weekend then I can get exactly where he went & the full story

at the end of the day u dont no what goes on there all year and u saying ur mum and dad aint lying means u are calling emma and pete a liar which im sure they are not

Both the Dominion and Mexico and i'll presume Cuba (i've not been to Cuba) have police on the entrance to the hotels mainly to stop people getting in not to stop people leaving

 

Why would people want to go to a foreign country if there not allowed out to see the place

Im not positive but i cant see them stopping you going off the complex all together

My understanding of the Dominican Republic is that you're advised not to leave the resort - however the resort is huge with lots of hotels, bars, shops, attractions, etc. There's a lot of all inclusive packages, for which you get coloured wrist bands, and depending upon the colour depends on which shops, bars, restaraunts, etc they're valid at.

 

Of course, this is speaking as someone that's not been there - but I've spoken to a fair few people that have.

i dont know much about the place but i do know it is one where you have to be careful
