What is the point of silent letters in words?

 

If its not gonna be used, then why have it there?

 

Words like lamb, tsunami, queue, knock and loads of others just seem to be a waste.

 

And also...why put 2 letters together to make them have the same sound as 1 letter on its own???

 

Ph instead of F...I mean WHY BOTHER?????

 

I love the English language, it makes life so unpredictable

It's things like this that make the American's actually look intelligent momentarily

 

Using 'Color' - and thus spelling it how its pretty much phonetically done so - instead of 'Colour

American is better spelt 'english' which is a mish mash of other languages

its just there to confuse you

I said exactly the same to a work college who was like when I pronounced Gnosal as it's spelt

 

Why was a good letter!
