I just signed up coz Maria (the lovely girly she is) e:mailed me with details.

Now I take it I need to get one of them handsets now...or if not, how do I use it?

Lovely ? Thanks. blushing.gif

It's pretty straight forward to use the Messenger. I find it better than MSN more often than not as it's not got any possible bugs and is very secure !

I'm getting a handset near Christmas once I've bought all the vital things for my car. Hang in there Ginge, I'll tell you what's what when I'm not so busy in work thumbsup.gifwub.gif

well the way we used it was we had msn messenger running with eachothers webcam on, then we rang up the other person on skype and spoke thru microphones. easy peasy. best to get the headset where its headphones with a mic attatched, u feel like an operator hehe dj.gif so that you dont get feedback

I'm not a ringing up type person, I'm more of an MSN or text kind of guy.

u can do that as well i suppose lol

Update...

There is now another site/service called...

www.VOIPBuster.com

All landline calls to anywhere in the world are free apparently, for a very small annual subscription ... (like a fiver)

Don't use Skype!!! Use Sipgate (www.sipgate.co.uk) - much better, no cost, proper landline number (doesn't even have to be in your geographical area)... It's what I now use, have an adapter which cost me £19.99 - and into that I've got plugged my normal DECT phone and don't need my computer switched on...

With Sipgate you get free calls to other Sipgate users as well as loads of other VoIP callers worldwide. You also get free voicemail (which can be e-mailed to you as well as available online through the web portal and by calling 50000 from your phone, or an 0845 number from any phone). You get online calls management, so you can see who's tried to call you... It's the dogs danglies...

Also, for cheap (FREE!) landline calls within the UK look at VoIPCheap (www.voipcheap.co.uk). You have to add 5 Euros credit, but then you get free landline calls from your computer.

Oh - and if you go for Sipgate, don't buy stuff from them, it's cheaper to buy elsewhere!!! Just take the free telephone service!
