How about restricting the number of posts a member can make to a particular topic? Is this possible? I can't understand why someone needs to post 7, 8, 9 ++++ times within 1 hour on a subject. Oh yes, I do understand, because they forget it's a forum and use it like a chatroom!

 

Sorry if my frustration is showing through here, but I'm getting a headache trying to filter thru the conversations to get to anything meaningful!!!

you ocan do that but the problem is what happens if the topic is a big one and many people reply. If a thread is gettin out of control so to speak then it best to just shut it.

I know of another forum vwvortex.com, where they make it so you can't post more than once a minute or something, it keeps from flooding I think. Maybe more than 5 in an hour or a day or something!

 

I don't think shutting it is the answer.

yep but flooding isn't specific to a topic, it's right across the board and i think a lot of people would get very annoyed at that.

Well, some peeps around here have accused others of deleting posts, when the real culprit seemed to be 'flooding' or a form of it. Again, just throwing things out and about! Maybe when everyone recovers from GKGG, they'll have some brain cells left to comment

i don't know how reg members could delete other peoples post as only admin can do that. I do get the odd time out from the server at times when replying to a post or something that proves to be fustrating when you have written a bit of a huge reply.

I dont think there is an answer - I make a decision and lose 5 really cool people - I make a different decision and lose 5 different really cool people - I make no decision and let things be and I lose no one !

 

I too am about all these un-necessary posts hence my post "general chit-chat-sh*te" but I got into big trouble with that and like I say I cant win.

 

All I know is I wish it was like it used to be as I used to be able to read each and every post every day and wouldnt miss anything vital. Thats why i'm not so bothered about numbers/stats on the forums anymore - it means nothing in the scheme of things.
