I have always wanted to say that in conversation, and on Sunday I said it to a Taxi Driver.

 

Me: How much for a taxi from here to Southampton?

TD: Hold on I'll find out (TD gets on radio)

Me: OK

TD: Right, it should be about £65

Me: OK, one minute (Check with friends)

Me: Thats a bit much, any chance of getting it a bit cheaper

TD: No

Me: Oh, come on.... (Hassles TD and TD looks a bit annoyed)

TD: To tell you the truth...

Me: Butting in: YOU WANT THE TRUTH, YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH

 

Taxidriver gets scared and drives off. I think he was going to say "To tell you the truth, I don't want to take you bunch of drugged up idiots anyway"

 

Ten minutes later we got a taxi for £55 so we were better off anyway.
