Hi Steve -

Using an clock or watch with a second hand or a digital watch, count the number of beats in a minute (or count the number of bars and multiply by 4) - that gives you your BPM,. The longer you do it for the more accurate it gets. I've got a cycloops that does it for me, but you will find that very few tunes are the same bpm. You very quickly notice if it is even 0.1bpm out so in the end it comes down to earwork, but it is handy for set planning or record box arranging.
