My numarks do the job

the pitch is as random as [censored] and they make funny noise when they spin round due to the crap thats fallen down the edges i.e. toast.

But i love em

guys like Yoji and Picotto and Dave Clarke all have the deck plates off Technics before their sets anyway to tweak the pitch up to +/-16.

But technics do look nice, and there's a certain amount of sentimentality about using them.

When it comes to picotto and his decks, minus 8 becomes normal speed and where plus 8 is becomes plus 16. an old dave angel trick.

Another turntable will have to do well do knock technics off as the industry standard, vestax are trying and i like them. If you have the option of tricks why not use them and do something no other joe bloggs DJ is doing and play. I love vestax for tricks etc, a god mixer helps too though. There is a lot of torque and the speed fader is alot more sensitive for inch perfect mixing. like any deck if you are used to something and like it why change. I am open to technics and vestax as i have neither but use both regularly. Give your tools a chance, get to know how they [censored] and reap the benefits eventually.

pitching technics up only effects the + side of the pitch control........-side is unnaffected. 0 is still zero. fact. spliff.gif

Agreed. As I've already stated, I've got +/-20% on my decks, so I can really pitch stuff up.

But honestly, are you really going to use that?

I mean, a breakbeat DJ could use that extreme pitch range to turn old hip hop into breaks, but you mix repetitive hard house. How is +/-100% going to be that useful?

(BTW - That latest mix CD you did for me, the one that begins with Zippedy Doo Dah, the first track proper, Burning is pitched up WAAAAAAY too much wink.gif)

Just to start a debate. Compared to Vestax, they are just not good enough. It was a great design 25 years ago when released, but they need to update it as they will get phased out in the next couple of years by competitors - i.e. Vestax, Stanton, Numark. Just look at MOS London, they got stanton, and home did have vestax. Any comments? I have used both and love my PDX-2000's.

Hmm.. technics are really crap arent they thats why 99% of clubs use them!! silly boy wot the [censored]??!!

I'm still at a stage where I'm really not happy with my mixing on Technics, I'm sure its cuarable once I spend more time using them. I went from belt drives to Vestax and have to agree that Vestax are sooooo much better. Technics shall remain industry standard though, especially with the new mark fives soon to be available.
