Which headphones do y'all use? Or if money was not a factor, which would you buy?

Reason is that I tried the new Pioneer's at PLASA (HDJ-1000) and they were nice, then went to a shop and the guy really tried the hard sell on the Sennheiser's, which I thought were fairly poor for djing in a loud club with, and so I have stuck with the Sony's, which I think are the best. And you can now buy them (MDR-V700DJ) for £83.36 if you go to the right place.

Your comments would be appreciated - if I could do a poll I would.

I use the seinheisers SP's, which have always sufficed - granted I haven't played in a major club. It was still bloody loud enough though! Quite expensive I think they were around £100

I have had my Sennheiser HD-25sp for about 2 years now, and they still sound as good as the day i bought them.

Only a minor point - because they have one cable running to each 'phone, the cable tends to get badly twisted when you take them on and off a lot.

which book is this?

I have no doubt the sennheiser's are excellent, I think when you get to this level, the performance is equivalent with any major brand, just then down to personal preference.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson.

Read it - it will change your whole oulook on drugs.

Back to the headphones, you're right, it is personal preference, remember - you'll be wearing them for usually two or more hours at a time, so they need to be comfortable. Thats why I went for the Senns, they're not heavy, they don't hurt my ears, and they go bloody loud.

Hi Rob, I use the sony v500s, have done for almost two years now, I think they're grrrrreat; they're compactable up into that nice small ball, and they're good for insulating outside sound, but not *too* good that you can't hear anything going on outside of what you're cueing (it's kind of good to be able to hear what's coming through the monitors...!)

I remember I was djing with a mate and he had sennheisers and was happily queuing up the next track and was completely oblivious to the fact that the current record was skipping quite badly .... hmmm shocked.gif

I used the v500's for about two years as well, and have literally just upgraded this week, because I was waiting to see what the new pioneers were like - I take your point about headphones being a bit too good at cutting sound out though!!

I use the Sony MDR-V700 Headphones - had them since last christmas and they are still in top working order, they withstood the ultimate test of playing in front of a thuosand screaming/shouting/horn-blowing mad heads at Fantasy Island last NYE!! the sound was as clean as a whistle!

I had Senheissers for four years before getting the Sony one's and towards the end they started to sound distorted, but to be fair they were regulary cainded and bashed around!

The Sony one's look the bollox though
