Thw best way to tell if eggs are still fresh is to pop them in a glass full of water. If they sink, they are fresh, if they float, they have gone off, if they are somewhere in the middle, well it's your decision!

Best before dates are only approximate (which is why it just says best before!)

so go for it, but if you're ill remember that we all told you not to eat them.

btw - when you said "a glass full of water" you could have warned me to take into account the volume that the egg would take up. i now have a wet kitchen
