Right, hers oe for u. A subject that REALLY pisses me off.

What do u all think about the media composing stories about ppl taking drugs? Overated? I think so.

I ask u this because of the post that sum1 put up in the serious issues forum..about his mum being cool about him taking E's.

It pisses me off at how the media can scare parents and other ppl who dont use drugs, about the missuse of taking drugs. Fair enough,...drugs are dangerous, but the deaths on drugs have never increased each year. As u all know, alcohol causes more deaths than E itself. Im sick to death of hiding the fact from my mum that i use E. They think the bad about it because of the media, who put nothing but bollox in the papers, just to frighten the public. They make out that the deaths are tragic, ok maybe they are...but how many stories each year, are printed in the papers about a death concerbibg E? We all know what rules to abide by when taking E, therefore...we live to see another day in the world. Ppl who dont abide by the rules...are obviously asking for trouble.

So far, last year...i dont remember more than....2? But then there are lots of deaths announced in the media with ppl who drink alcohol. I wish the media would start taking things seriously and stop the bullshit that they put down in these E articles whenever there is one, i feel the need to find the ppl who right these articles and throw a dart in their faces (ya get me?).

Debate me.

Could this be the point at which I copy/paste my rant on hf.net? I think so:

----

81 Ecstacy deaths '97-'00.

Reading threough my copy of the daily mail on friday, I was both surprised and annoyed to find an article about deaths occurring on E - This article stated that between 1997 and 2000, there were a total of 81 deaths linked to E. Now, the first thing to put this in perspective is the number of deaths that occur as a result of alcohol each year. The second thing, which is the part that annoyed me the most, is that on reading a copy of Metro or the Evening Standard later on friday, I came across this gem of information: Of the 81 deaths that have occurred on E, 73 were of known drug addicts who had taken E in combination with other prescribed or proscribed substances.

This leaves us with 8 deaths in the course of 3 years - The majority of which will be from hyperthermia, dehydration or overhydration.

If you now take our 8 deaths in 3 years from "occasional drug users", it works out at 2.6(ish) people per year dying from e. From what I have been told, this is actually less than the number of people who die per year from choking on the tops of ball point pens. Suddenly a rather "scary" article becomes a somewhat feeble attempt at scaremongering.

My tuppence.

There all as bad as each other whipping up a frenzy just to sell some extra copies, and the sad thing is most of the stupid twats in this country fall for it.
