ok was considering one of these as a smaller alternative. BUT, the picture quality is terrible and from a new off the shelf sony i really would expect much much more, despite its compact size.

 

personally ive found sony's dont offer vibrant colourranges and often the CCD is a little week at interpolation.

 

 

but then i would say that, i have a £600 fuji

My Sony DSP-50 has probably the BEST colour definition i've seen from a camera in its price range and i get lots of comments saying how good it is. The Fujis offer the best clarity and pick up the light better but the colours are no way as good.

 

Having said that the new sony's dont seem to pick up the colour quite as good as the old ones which suprises me - but i'd still say the colour is better than the Fujis.

Sig - you have to remember this is a tiny still digital camera - to be honest i'd rather have no video at all and have it even smaller. As with trying to merge mobile phones with digital camera i think its stoopid. I would rather they spent the extra effort on enhancing the still pics rather than piss about turning them into something it aint. You can now get very small digital cameras and they are getting cheaper all the time.
