I suppose it does jar my knees a bit (although I sort of try and do something halfway between a bounce and a stomp...I shall call it a bomp ) but my knees are fairly resilient and don't hurt yet

 

True moody teenagers do stomp but, as with many other words, the meaning of 'stomp' is contextual...and since i'm not a moody teenager and the word gets quite close to capturing my frame of mind at that particular moment I think it's fine.

 

I do know what you mean about words that irritate you irrationally though, i've got a few that piss me right off (although stomp isn't one of them ) and no amount of discussion would stop them winding me up...interesting things words eh?
