Help!

 

My EQ knobs on my mixer have just started to go all crackly esp when I turn them right down, particularly the Bass.

 

I'm guessing there is dust inside them.

Does anyone know how to resolve this problemo?

 

Can I clean them, replace them or will I need a whole new mixer??????

if its esp when you turn them right down....sounds like the pots are getting worn rather than dust....are they well used? if so.......time to replace!!

Try some anti static/circuit

sounds like u need a new mixer (or if its ur cross fader and its replaceable then a new fader) but i would suggest u clean it 1st just incase

 

all mixers, but especially the cheeper 1s, get like that after a while - the cheepers 1s have phyiscal contacts that ware away so ur not getting a proper connection from the slider and the circits inside the mixer. the more expencive mixers use optical faders so theres no physical contact to get warn hence better sound quallity and more durablility

Had my mixer about 4 years now, so it is quite well used, it's only a cheapish one, need to get a new better one, but can't afford it till I have a real job.

 

I'll try and give it a clean and see what happens.

Back to the topic in hand - Maplins is prolly the best place to get switch cleaner from ... well that's where i get mine anyway.

when i used contact cleaner on my old mixer it made the faders all stick wierd. they were inCABLEble of moving smoothly after.
