What kinda samples do people go for.... do u have a certain type u always seem to go for??

 

the only samples i use are single drum hits... and ive got more than enough.. so i dont sample anything anymore really

I don't use samples either, to be honest my sampler just gathers dust, I occassionally use it to sample riffs I have written on my synth that I can't get out of it when it is in multi-timbral mode.....what a waste of £1100!!

I look mainly for weird vocal things that people dont often use or one shot samples.

i tend to create all my samples by just fukin about with single nots and sying what weird sounds i get from it by adding various fx/filters etc to it

 

the only real samples i use repeatedly would be percursive sample

Usually FX, vox and maybe percussion samples

vox being vocals?

I sample loads of stuff from films, not big films that ppl would know but weird and obscure films.

I like using weird quirky vocal samples that grab your attention.

Do you link your video/DVD up to your sampler to do that? I can never be bothered to trawl through films listening for samples. When Trent Reznor was recording the Downward Spiral, he got someone to sit down and listen to hours of films, with no visuals, to listen for weird sounds and ambiences that would make good samples!

I love watchin films anyway, i have a massive collection on dvd and video. When i watch a film for the 1st time im not really lookin for samples, but if i hear something i like then it gets sampled straight away and i just keep them all so i can use them whenever i have a track that would fit around that sample or vice versa.

I only sample vocals but have a pretty goods sample CD for the Organ Doners. Has plenty of bass, sub-bass and precussion which I stick into Kontakt.
