If we give ourselves plenty of time in the future then im sure we will be able to arrange taking cameras in for future events - i was allowed to take my camera in everywhere in Ibiza & am still working on NEC.

As for phones at NEC - i dont think that applies to this event

I'm intending to do a review of the night for my web site anyway, so when it came to the fact that I wasn't going to be allowed to take my digital camera in (a rather decent one at that) I was, shall we say, furious. I told them I was doing an article about it, and the best the nice woman on the phone could offer would be a collection of official stock photos to be released to the media/press, after the event. So unfortunately I didn't have the gift on that particular day. If I'd have said I was from Mixmag or M8 though ... I'm sure I would have been OK.

 

*However*, there is another point in all this, which is that not being allowed to take my camera in means that there's obviously less likelihood of me losing it or dropping it. Yet it still doesn't make up for the fact that I'll have no visual record of being there.

 

James, both you and I are in exactly the same situation - both running web sites which, because of their growth in a couple of years time, Crasher will wish they hadn't [censored] with! ...

The first edition of Digital Camera mag, has apart from loads of [censored] good free softwre) an article on super mini digital cameras in pens, watches, and binoculars. The quality is not quite there yet but it won't be long before you can high quality digital images from camera's disgused as almost

anything. + it had an article on mini camaras (palm sized, which are much easier to hide).

 

Technology as ever will win the day, and the corporate fucks at these big events are going to have to bow to the inevitable.

Where did you find out about no cameras or tels?

What happens to cameras and mobile phones if we take them? Surely they cant take them off us, they would get the biggest pile of cameras and mobiles ever seen and no1 would get there own camera/phone back. Im taking my mobile anyway.

It would also be an administration nightmare groove - and there are bound to be some lost and/or stolen ...

And the woman did just say no digital cameras ... I'm a bit cheesed off with it so I can't really be bothered to phone back. So if someone could get in touch with them and see what the deal about phones/normal cameras is ... ?
