My ADSL connection dropped out at 12.20am , it's just come back up 3 hours later. The BT ADSL automated status line reported no [censored] problems. I checked my firewall, dial up networking settings, modem status, even went over to my other partition....then rang the tech line which had me on hold for 35 minuites b4 i gave up. Which means they did have a tech problem but didn't [censored] report it on the automated status line...USELESS [censored] idiots.

It really is annoying in the extreme when ADSL lines go down. In general you just have to sit through it and wait for them to fix it. I find calling tech support lines a waste of time and money. It gets fixed eventually.

But yes, BT are crap. I would never get anything more than a phone line off them.

I've found that it's not always BT - sometimes it's the modem. Disconnect it from your pc and the wall outlet for a few minutes then plug it back in and it usually clears (this is assuming you're using the Alcatel Speedtouch USB modem)

Admittedly BT are tossers though

I have, it's wicked.

DEMON Internet lease the lines with BT though. And it sounds like a line problem so that wouldn't solve it. If you want to get away from [censored] BT, then it's best to go with a cable company.

There offering faster connections now anyway!!

Yeah, you need to unplug the USB too to power the modem down, for it to be able to reset itself.

Usually does the trick for me.
