A little bit dodgey, but borrowed my mates copy of XP and installed it, but it was already registered on his comp, so I can't register it. Which means I can't access anything other than the net now.

 

If I install an older copy of Windows, will I loose everything ?

if u let windows format ur drive, and all ur data is on one drive, then yes.

 

you should be able to install new windows on top of ur current windows, which will give u a mess, you'll still have your data, and might not have solved anything.

 

best thing if u can is to back everything up, re format/install, then put it all back.

if you can access the net,there is a little utilty available from Kazaa or Emule (or any other peer to peer system) that will allow you to change the activation key on your windows xp to a valid number. Run a search in kazaa or emule for "XP Key Changer" and download the most popular one.

 

It should have instructions in the package. if you have problems downloading one i can prob upload the file onto this board somewhere and tell you what to do
