Yeah I've thought about this, hmmm I could technically revoke my british passport and become an Icelandic citizen and miss any war, but I am a partiotic sort of guy, like when I've seen some movie with a symphony playing over some heroic action sequence I think "Yeah I'd like to do that" [like starship troopers - ROCK!] but the reality is very very different.

 

prob not artillery, probably not tanks, not helicopters, maybe RAF, I hate the idea of drowning on a sinking ship in the atlantic or somewhere freezing so probably not the navy, though you do have a point about the marines.

 

but the whole (no pun intended ) idea of getting a bullet put through you frightens me

It's ironic i remember when things like the big talk with iraq would threaten war and be worried about being called up. And here i am now gettin information and reg forms for the marines. how times change eh!!

marines also, then s.b.s. have a friend in there, they get fuckin well payed for the forces.

To be honest, it'd be an honour to serve alongside my cousin who is in the Marines at the moment. He's definitely got more balls than me though - 18 years old and he's decided he's ready to give his life for his country if need be ...

My best m8 was 17 wen he passed out in August, hes just turned 18 last week!

People don't really understand why they do what they do. But in that situation i guess it all comes down to the guy next to you. You can totally trust him with your life and him with yours.

 

Mountain Commado wouldn't be to bad as that is one of other branches you can go into when in the marines.

 

But like you said Nick, if ya gonna join you may as well be part of the best.

My cousin was only 17 when he passed out (whenever that was lol) and was the youngest Marine in the UK at the time. I've attached his pic so you can see how youing he looked (and so you can see that bad looks really do run in the family)
