As of lately i've been working myself into the ground because of a deadline. Which ment doing over time and just basically really putting myself out of my way.

 

However as i'm now going to be moving to Sheffield in the very near future i need to start thinking about A ) looking for a job in Sheffield, and B ) if i don't find one soon sorting out my pay here so i can travel between Sheffield and work.

 

When i started the company i was put on the bottom end of the scale of my pay that was advertised. This is because me like a fool thought that because i had no real experience i would give the person the benifit of the doubt and see what my skills were like before giving me a pay rise after 6 months. WELL it's nearly a year now and i've been told i'm worth more than what i get paid. Even my boss says this. However still no pay rise after nearly a year. Even in the letter i got from the company when i started it mentions a pay rise after 6 months!!

 

I'm gonna arrange a meeting with my boss to sort this out. but i guess the question is do you think i'm being unfair? People that i have spoken to said i'm deff not being unfair and that they are gettin a very good deal out of me even if i have a pay rise. I'm just the kind of person though that feels bad in asking. BUT i guess you don't get if you don't ask!

Use your future move to Sheffield as a card in this meeting. Tell them if they don't make your pay more attractive then you will find another job, closer to home. If they really think you are valuable (which I am sure you are) they won't want to lose you.

Also, make sure you go in with a realistic pay offer in mind. If they try and offer you less, make it clear that you know how much you should be earning, and would be earning working for another company.
