Posted March 31, 200322 yr CTW Members In my quest this afternoon to achieve nothing more constructive than wasting 4 hours at [censored], I found myself putting staples into my stapler, and I thought "Someone somewhere makes staples for a living" (altho undoubtably they are called something like "Metal Fastenings Technician"). Someone else makes the plastic wall mountings for plug sockets. Or bins, those lovely things that sit in your [censored] place, be they plastic or metal, someone, somewhere loving pressed a button on a machine to make that for you. What other jobs are there that you just couldn't take pride in (I don't mean the stuff like Sewage Technician, cos you have to respect someone who can do a job that gross, and just mean jobs that are "meaningless" for want of a better word.) I make drawing pins for a living!!
March 31, 200322 yr CTW Members i'd never thought about it... but you're right.... I wonder who it is that makes toilet seats or door nobs.... or who makes the tins that paint comes in i like this game, it makes my job sound good
March 31, 200322 yr CTW Members when i was at college i used to [censored] in a factory that packed practically everything. some of my jobs included putting drinking straws into boxes, shrink wrapping elephant tape, putting nail scissors in the plastic bit of the packet then putting it through a machine to put the cardboard on. I was soooo glad when i finished college so i didn't have to [censored] there anymore.
