you could have just done what i did on my old computer before i got my new one which had xp installed on it. use someone elses's installation cd and validate it the way they didn't. e.g. my friend validated it over the phone so i did it via internet, or vice versa.

wot happens the next time you want to install it?

how do you mean?

usually have to re install it once a year or so

dunno what you do to your computer but i never have to do that. think after a year it's still fine, cos they have to take into account that people do have big hardware changes in their computers.

Won't they update their systems to know when people have done it one way or another ? Surely it can't be that easy ?

just saying that it worked for me smile.gif and i had no problems with it. my mates who used it after i did had lots of problems though lol.gif

like i said i dunno how you do that to your computer *touch wood* i've never had to do anything like that.

as for the virus, you should know better and get a decent firewall/virus scanner.

I sent Microsoft a cheque for £200 for all their good work last week, so I can't afford to pay for XP.

What kind of logic is that...?

I can't afford to buy a new car... doesn't mean I will steal one instead.

Andy: I think you'll find it's all about conditioning. I am the theiving little pikey that I am due to my life experiences and upbringing. I live the only way I know how.

If you'll excuse me, I've got to go iron my tracksuit and burberry cap. Cheers.
