pre-record a sickline stating you have diarrhoea (you don't see the symptoms after you've recovered, and you don't need to see a doctor) and then play it down the phone when you're sure they've got an answer phone on, like at 7a.m. By pre-recording it, you can be in any state of mind when calling in.
