to the producers out there....how many of you have churned out a tune, to then give it a name and feel slightly uncomfortabe with the name you have cast on your own tune...

i've found i've splashed a few tunes out and forced a name on it only to feel dissappointed in what i have produced, yet months later i have heard the song and thought of it in a much more positive and different light.

is it worth naming a song before you start - to set focus, or are you best playing with a clean palette and naming it aftewards???

...ramblings from an drunken producer suprised at the effects of self-classifiction...

hehehehe bonkers.

alrighty mate,

i always tend to write my choons first, then name them, as im never sure of how its going to turn out.

Only time i name a choon before writing it is if the choon has vocals.

I have to be careful with choon names, because once they are named and set to my lawyer and stuff, its a hassle to change the name again angryfire.gif

sumtimes i will hear a name and the name will give me insperation to write a tune. but thats as close to writting a tune around a name as i liek to get as i think if u set urself boundaries as to how the tune must sound u stiffle ur creativety which in turn can only degrade teh quality of the final artical

just my thought mind

Yeah i got some online - all these have been collecting dust for a few years and with the exception of arch angel never really made it past the "experimental throw things together and mix it some other time approach". some fun bits here and there

i'm with you both - cos all my songs were named after the first sort of dabbling had been done (i had to save it as something!). maybe a slight change after a bit more dabbling but the name would then stick.

this is where it is a bit constrictive in the same way as starting off with a name is.

i'm a bit lost as to what my point was now, probably because i was pissed when i made it, but having a renaming session did seem to remove writers-block and give a bit more focus as to where it should go.

i think mainly though, it was how utterly stupid the names i give sounded anyway. i was probably hoping for everyone to say, "yeah i feel cheesily embarassed by my names". hehe.

guess there ought to be a random-bollox-for producers thread.
