I voted Trance ... what is hard trance exactly? I'm guessing it's the bastard love child of Hard House and Trance ... confused.gif

It gets so incredibly confusing with all the labels....

I think my top 3 are techno house, funky house and hard house.

But some labels, I just don't know what they mean: what is deep house? Is that house that's got a sinister "flavour" instead of being bouncy and energetic? Can someone give me (a real well known, please!) example?

What is progressive house? In fact, what do all the genres with the prefix "progressive" have in common, what is it that makes them progressive, as opposed to what...old skool?

Better go vote now.... tongue.gif

In my opinion Deep House is more 'dreamy' and has less vocals than mainstream House and funky House, e.g. Heroes For Hire - Our House Music, Justin Chodzko - Muttonhoney, samples of both on here under releases.

Progressive House is the stuff played by the likes of Sasha, Digweed, Sander Kleinenburg, Dave Seaman, etc. In my opinion it's got more in common with Trance than house, again is dreamy/trippy. A progressive house mix can take on a journey through a complete soundscape. Stuff like Sasha and Digweed's Northern Exposure 1 & 2 are still classic examples despite being a few years old now.
