Your signature isn't actually part of your post, it is just refered to in the post, I just changed my signature, and it affected all my posts

If you change your signature, it changes on all your posts.

i think it's the only workable way to do it. this way, there is only one copy of your signature... as the site grows and adds more members, it will be much more efficient in terms of storage...
