James has said no.

Theres no point of an FAO Forum with the better PM's now.

How are the pms better?

Also, crashing other people's faos is great.

Bring it back.

As with the old smut forum, having a specific FAO forum just encourages people to write more FAOs than they would normally. You can just as easily write a private message (PM).

The new Private Message system allows users to carbon copy (CC) multiple users (currently set at a max of 5). I want to encourage people to use the PM system more as its much improved.

Of course, users can still put up an FAO in the General Discussion forum, as they are doing. FAO threads are still useful when its a general FAO (e.g. FAO: Wildchilders). I also put up FAOs when I am keen for other people to see the information in the post which may or may not be relevant to them. But I do try and PM/CC people as much as possible.

By the way you can set up your own personal PM folders so you can file away/find important PMs easier.

ps. I DO intend to increase the PM limit (currently set at 50)

pps. Just try not to do so many ...

FAO: Subject: Hiya !

... type threads !

Exactly. And the problem with putting important fao's in the general discussion forum is it gets lost amongst all the usual crap that is posted in there

James, why not let people decide what they want?

If you have a FAO Forum and PM's then people can choose WHAT THEY WANT... This is so unlike you Jizzer....

i personally hardly ever use PMs as i reserve them for private matters when i can't contact the person on MSN.

The FAO forum on the old board was 2nd most popular, with at some times more posts being posted in there than general discussion.

I was going to post a gag about flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality but it's just flogging a dead horse.
