December 14, 200222 yr CTW DJs In reply to: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- u cant build a game in directx - directx is just a tool u use 4 accessing the computers resorses more effeciantly -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Direct3d rather, rushing is never a good thing hehe my original statement still stands tho - direct3d is just a medium to use to draw 3d graffics on screen. thier just sets and subsets of drivers that have been writtern with optimun performance and access the hardware directly so u dont have to write all ur 3d ruitines and hardware accessing ruitines urself from scratch if ur learning 3d game devolopment tho, i would suggest u call directdraw to capture ur screen resolution and colour depth and then use openGL cuz it runs slightly faster than direct3d (i think u need to call directdraw tho to capture the screen cuz open gl cant get the screen eclusively and cant change the resolution/screen size) just sumthin i learned along the way but then i was self tought so there may well be a more efficiant way of going about this Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munchMSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.netAOL - MangaMorganOnline mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/

December 15, 200222 yr CTW DJs Bloody hell, you're quite accomplished for 17!! When did you start up BOS? I find it hard to believe you started it on your own...? If your game technology is still in its infancy, presumably you're not making any money out of it yet? Isn't it going to be pretty hard to catch up with other companies' game engines, considering many software houses have specialised in (for example) first-person shooters for many years, and already have very open-ended game engines and their own in-house development tools? You definitely want to learn C++ if you want to be taken seriously in this field. I've programmed in C++ for many years now, but still I wouldn't take on a project of this size on my own! I guess that's where your "63 staff world wide" come in...? Presumably you have some project management experience as well? Good luck with it all!!
