Does anyone else except me (and soon to be MissyZ but don't tell her!) use Linux or any other NIX?

If not, you should really look into it. Its a great operating system, and best of all, - its free!

the more i use linux the more i'm glad most ppl dont use it - way to complex 4 more home users

i tryed installing a DVD player (4get the name of it, but this was a while ago as it was the 1st prog that could read copywrited DVDs) and after 3 hours gave up

plus linux its not really worth using linux if u dont program cuz the whole open source side to it becomes irrivant and thats the best bit of linux

basically if ur a novice but want stability and a server style OS 4 free ur better off with a cracked copy of win2k tongue.gif

I've gone through several years of a love hate relationship with Linux and FreeBSD. I keep walking away, but god.. I love that bitch.

RedHat 8.0 really does wipe the floor though. Too hard for novice users? RH8 is far easier than Windows ever is.

It just works. Everything I've plugged into it just works straight off... zip disks, usb mice, - even graphics tablets.

If u want to try Linux again download an ISO of red hat 8 - its the dogs!

my problem is i dont have standard hardware and i have cirtain software that needs to be run (sum of which i've hard to manually program 4 windows)

theres no such thing as a naste distro of linux really cuz u can select the packages u want installed and not installed plus u can always install packages that dont come with the ISO to meet ur requirements

i likes mandrake cuz it came with everything so i could just select what i didn't want :)

yep i trained in LInux and UNIX. I'm gonna install Mandrake or RedHat or [censored] it both, when i get round to it, lol. I prefer them for security reasons and well i'm a network boff so you gotta love them!!

Nothing like Linux or UNIX. It's the programmers operating system after all.

the reason i'm in a love hate relationship with windows is because it has come a defacto standard, but it tries to do everything for you, and for me that fuckin annoys the hell out of me.
