You can still do that without monitors... well i do anyway, but then in a small venue the dynamics are different (i'm guessing) to a big and the reverb is greatly reduced so the sound is still very clear and punchy

Agreed, but if you have one or two good monitors right by your loaf its just better

^ agreed. It's a fucking nightmare mixing in a venue where there are NO speakers pointing directly towards you ... and all you can hear is this great muddy swamp of reverberating bass.

 

It's all about DEFINITION!

i find hardcore impossible to keep in time as its all fluffy samples with little deffinition (as well as being painful to listen to)

All hardcore is fluffy. even the 'harder' stuff. its the samples, if the samples were crisp and punchy, then the music would just sound cluttered and a noise (not that it doesnt already) at that bpm

i've heard a few hardcore tunes that arnt completely mindless.

 

'techno dread' and 'the technodread alliance' has created a few hardcore tracks that have actually held my attention.

 

doesnt meen endorse the genre mind

aww it's not all that bad, couldnt be doing with it all the time tho
