tiesto tracks have very loosely quantized percussion tracks, it makes them sometimes sound out when they are actually in.

i like the whole deep toned bass n that...

i have Just Be by tiesto n that ones ok i find for mixing

so i dont see what ur problem would be straight away then in that area......

What Ian is saying is quite simple. It is harder to beatmatch tunes where the quantisation/swing is 'looser'.

 

I find this with some funky techno.

I do know what Ian means, but I dont think this is the case for all of his tracks.

 

I find some of PVD's a right bitch to mix too, For an Angel being one of them, whether thats down to Quantithingywotsit or not I dont know...

whatever ive no a clue about what the hell it is

when i get a tune i listen to it over first. n i just keep using it over in a mix just to get used to it. after all that i dont have no tunes i dont know how to mix out of...

What styles of music do you play?

 

Some genres are more prone to loose quantisation than others (e.g. funky techno). It just means the rhythm is not strictly in time -- therefore it makes it harder to beatmatch.
