But why is Judge Jules so hated? I have my own ideas, I am just interested in other peoples. Please articulate your answer without using the words 'horses c***' or 'd*ckhead'...

Walks quietly but carries a big Fin.

Gotta say, having met him 2 or 3 times and heard him play 5 or 6, I was not his number 1 fan before dec 21st... then he played the most blinding set at the cross.

I think it's the pharmaceuticals he may (or may not!) take. Uncle Charlie tends to make people a little egocentric...not the best state of mind for a dj when trying to whip up the crowd. Several times I've heard him play a brilliant technical set...without a hint of emotion or communication with the crowd. Talking to him on a night like this is not rewarding. I would like to talk to him when he's in the same state he was in last month - I get the feeling I'd really like him.

He has an awesome ear for a choon and mixes like a god - when he's with you, he's REALLY with you: when he's not, he could be any coke-fiend.

Just my two pennorth - I'm liking him at the mo...

Ive heard him play excellent loads of times. Was only one time I saw him and wasn't impressed (though his scratching at the Cross was dire!!!) His was easily the best set I heard while at GGGK last summer and was blown away seeing him at Gatecrasher in Sheffield round the same time!! Has always seemed pretty friendly and willing to interact with the crowd too!

Or maybe I've just been lucky!!!!

I think Judge Jules is excellent. When he plays at his best he can be amazing and get the best atmosphere goin. He does play [censored] sets every now and then but most DJs have their off days.

Was judge jules yrs ago who 1st got me into the whole scene really - use to go up to sum little club in northampton where he'd offten play - at the time none of my m8s was into decent stuff so that was nearest I could ever get 'em to a decent club!

Also was listenin to him on radio 1 etc still got 100s of mds from yrs ago with quality tunes from that lol!

I've never heard him play a dire set apart from his show sat nites - it's got too funky for me these days.

I've noticed a lot of the peeps that don't like him r jsut blokes trying to pretend their hard! confused.gif like it's cool not to like him kinda thing!

I think DJs are just like clothes - in or out of fashion. People just wanna be heard saying the latest names, sad really cause some of the older dj's that have been around are just as good and still play blindin sets. Just my view smile.gifsmile.gif

Ive never had any problems with him. Only seen him a couple of times but both were top sets and i have heard essential mixes too. His set at GCSSS in 2001 was class (the late one after PVD not the Radio 1 live stage)

I think he went through a spell of pissing people off with his ego though, and then magazines jumped on his case and like someone already said: it became "cool" to slag him off or take the piss.

My personal view of Mr Jules - when i lived in Ibiza in 2000 we spent a lot of time with the djs as i was a dancer in the clubs and to me he was the most arrogant dj id ever met although he did give me the time of day i always felt like he was just goin thru the motions of speakin to people and that he couldnt really be arsed!!

Iv been to good and bad gigs of his, bad ones outweighing the good ones to be perfectly honest tho more to do with his choice of tune than his mixing (was at gatecrasher when he went all progressive and it wasnt really doin anythin for me - i guess iv not been inclined to go and see him since due to that along with my view of his attitude from what i saw) smile.gifshrug.gif

I dont think i hate him as such.

I think ppl (hardhouse/trance fans) dont like him because he plays cheezy and commercial tuneage. But hardhouse fams are guna say that arn't they? Simply coz they dont play what they like.

Fair play to jules tho..he may play comercial, but when he is playing at festivals, like NEC and the like...he plays sum blinding sets..always on top form.

I never saw him @ NEC GC but he came to Liquid, Peterborough the other week and i went to see his set!

Twas very good except last 15mins was commercial!

But 1st lot was thumbs.gif

Changed my view on Trance music! Hence why im goin Passion on Feb 1st spliff.gif

Mixed views myself

His turns of phrase on his radio show make my toes curl at times but have heard him play a few times and thought he varied from good to bloody excellent. Thought he was pretty nifty on the R1 outdoor stage at Homelands last year (but not half as good as the king Coxy) and way back in 98 in Ibiza when he played the R1 special at Manumission thought he was outstanding

Put it one way would rather listen to Jules than any UK garage bollocks
