it's gonna be kind of a techno/electro mix; i want to build it up from the start to almost a more "uplifting" end (although i hate to use that word), just wanted to make sure that the general consensus is that people prefer it that way and that i wasn't just on my own in thinking that.

Yep, that is what I try to do when doing a CD - good luck with it, and I'll have a copy if your doing one! thumbs.gif

id say depends what style your playing. i play trance so i just try and be musical about the first hour, then build up to some big tunes at the end. i feel really constricted doing 80min sets tho. its hard to get the balance of a warm up beginning to a full on athem session in just 80 mins.

i like a 2hr slot...! then u get the best of everything!

How about a 3 cd set then ? thumbs.gif

Wub's Word

Whenever I do a mix tape (I'm not onto CD's yet), I use what I call a James Bond technique.

This is where you follow the way a James Bond films peaks and troughs with your tunes. You start off with a big tune to get peoples attention, then you take it down a bit and gradually build up again to a peak at the end of the mix. This gets peoples attention to begin with, and then they actually start listening as the mix builds overall.

Harder. Faster. Better. Stronger. Badder. Smarter. Wub Wub

Good advice from wub, you have to pull people in, take them somewhere interesting, then build to the final climax (oo'er)
