I used to make every effort to get captions up of members' names on all photos on all sets every week.

 

This is taking up considerable time to do but I dont want to just leave them. I think its very important to have the name captions so new members can identify, and get to know existing members, leading to PMing them, meeting up and talking to them next time etc... (i.e. the whole concept of ctw)

 

Its also great to be able to use the gallery search to find pics of your favourite DJs etc...

 

Are there any volunteers out there who have been around long enough to know 80% of the members if they saw their face, and would have a spare few hours a week to update the captions ?

 

Please help this cause !

Well I'm not to good at remembering names James but is there a way that the captions can be left 'open', so that any ctw mewmber who is browsing the photos can fill in the names on the fly so to speak

not really colin - i had this before on the old forums and it leads to abuse by anonymous people. e.g.

 

"CreamyC is a c*nt"

 

etc..

 

What i really need to have is a way of letting people made caption suggestions and then we approve them. But I cant hack the forum software as its protected.

I'd do it but seeing as you called me a cut you forget the idea now. Lets all do it and then amend the abusive ones if needed. It makes it more fun.

Amending the abusive ones could be even more work than it is now - honestly - this happened before. I think the answer it to allow say 10 regular members access to update the captions as and when then can - will be easier then to find out who is p*ssing about. I dont mind funny comments they are great but i do mind people putting the wrong names up - its vital to me that the correct names go up and that the correct boxes are filled in - there are 3 - (headline, caption, keywords)

 

I will set up a new gallery user account and let a few of you know the user/password.

i will set up a generic user and let you know the user/pass. have just found a bug in the gallery since i upgraded last week and first need to iron this out as it currently errors when you try to add a caption

Id just simply write

 

"Mr_Moo" cos then @ least all the birds can find me if they search for Moo or Mr

if you need anyone else to help then i'd volunteer to i think i'd recognise most of the people on the site by face
