It sounds big enough to be a badger, like when it breathes it's got to be substantial enough to make that kind of noise. And I know badgers snuffle quite a bit.

OK I went out to find out what it was and I know it is still in my garden, but it is being very quiet and I think it has moved. It wasn't on the right hand side of the greenhouse any more. I went right over there and peered around, and I thought I heard a bit of the breathing from further back in the garden. But when I went to where I thought it was, it made no noise.

 

I'll look later.

 

Thanks for the advice, I shall keep CTW updated as and when I find out what this *thing* is.

Right, I'm going to have a good old look around and see whether I can find out what this *thing* is.

Right well the results are less than amazing. The 'thing' appears to have gone (although there was a flattened bit of ground where I thought it was, like a hollowed bit where the twigs weren't?) however the neighbour's reasonably fit daughter of about 20 appears to be in the room that is the equivalent of my spare room only in their house ( ), watching the TV. With some kind of see-through blinds down.
