in a past thread you commented on how fruity tracks all sound the same.

 

do you have an example of a few tracks?

 

i only ask this because i strive to be unique and just want to check that i have got a sound thats not already been worn to death

Go to www.generoproject.com and listen to some tracks by the Fruityloops users there and I reckon you'll see why I feel this way about FL.

but then dont you think amature productions are more likely to sound samey?

i just presumed you were on about commertial productions

On the presumtion that FL is very ¬ software (imo). I really don't know of that many tunes made on Fruity that have got a major release. Guy Mearns (Guyver) is definitely flying the flag for Fruity and the only the only other track I can think of done on Fruity by a wholey different producer that's been released is 8th Wonder. And suprise suprise the bass and kick sounds like it could be done by Guyver.

Fruityloops is a sampler. You can put whatever samples in it you like!

The only reason that loads of people turn out amateurish pap with Fruityloops is because it's easy to use.

 

If Cubase was as easy to use (and cheap) as Fruity, just as many people would turn out crap with Cubase.

Just the general feel of a tune made on Fruity, the potency of the kicks and bass, the way fx is used it just sounds like Fruity. I can't explain it I just listen to a track and straight away I can tell if it's done on Fruity. It's easy to use but it's definitely harder to make a track of release standard then on Reason and Cubase. I can think of so many Reason producers who have had their work released but I can think of only two on Fruity.

that might be more to do with the fact that reason, cubase and logic are much more powerful hence people of enough skill to write professional standard tunes would prefer them over fruity loops.

 

i know i wouldnt be using fruitly loops if i had the time and money to learn logic

LTM, does it really matter what software people use to make their music?

I know several 'industry' people who swear by Fruityloops, not for sequencing their tracks, but as an 'ideas pad' and for making their basic loops - which is exactly what it's designed for!

 

Saying something "sounds like it was done on Fruity" is meaningless (unless you literally mean "you've used all the crap built-in samples"). You can write shit with Cubase as well.

 

I agree that there are more people making crap with Fruity, for the reasons I've already mentioned, but that doesn't mean Fruity is inherently bad. I rather think you're missing the point mate. There's only two types of music: good music and bad music.
